Job Description
The PDI Technician verifies receipt of new vehicles delivered to the dealership and performs routine inspections to ensure consistency and compliance as designated by the dealer and manufacturer. The PDI technician performs a thorough inspection of new vehicles verifying heat, air conditioning, radio, and windshield wipers work properly. Attentiveness and troubleshooting skills are important, and candidates must be able to identify and resolve any issues with the vehicle quickly and efficiently.
Schedule: Weekday Nights 5-9 and Weekends
Responsibilities
- Performs pre-delivery inspections in accordance with manufacturer’s checklist
- Inspects vehicles to detect damage and to verify the presence of accessories listed on the invoice such as spare tires, radio, etc.
- Records description of damages and lists missing items on delivery receipt
- Reads and comprehends instructions and information
- Installs accessories, if appropriate
- Parks new vehicles in assigned areas
- Complies with policies and procedures including safety procedures
- Checks all fluids and maintenance-related parts and tops-off or replaces fluids or filters/parts as required
- Performs routine service inspections or tests and completes standard maintenance jobs
- Maintains cleanliness of vehicles while performing service or repairs
- Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
- Follows all shop policy, procedure, safety, and environmental rules
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- One year of relevant experience preferred
- Knowledge of automotive servicing or repair highly desired
- Unrestricted driver's license and 3 years of a clean driving record
- Able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles
- Neat, clean, and professional appearance
- Highly professional and dependable
- Safety and customer service oriented
- Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed
- Certification as a state inspector a plus
