JOB GOAL:
To plan, coordinate, and implement district student and special services programs with emphasis on the Child Student Team Services and professional development to meet the needs of classified students in the least restrictive environment and support inclusive education in conjunction with the Director of Special Education and Student Services. The District Student and Special Services Teacher/Coordinator supports Special Education teachers and Paraprofessionals in all aspects of implementation of the Special Education process preschool through age 21. The District Student and Special Services Teacher/Coordinator also supports administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, and other professional support staff in meeting the needs of students in need of services.
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Certificate (Special Education Teacher, School Psychologist, School Social Worker or LDTC).
• Master’s degree in education or related field with emphasis on special education instructional practices or special student services.
• Minimum of five (5) years of special education teaching experience or experience with Student and Special Services in a school setting preferred.
• Experience working with the Child Study Team Services preferred.
• Strength to advocate for students.
• Demonstrated competence to use the computer as a tool for management.
• Experience with positive behavioral interventions.
• Knowledge of New Jersey Special Education regulations and other federal and state laws pertaining to special areas such as Section 504, Discipline and HIB.
• Experience working with adult learners.
• Ability to communicate and work with adult learners: teachers, administrators and parents.
• Flexible in acquiring new technologies.
• Ability to deliver staff development programs.
• Organized and skilled at recordkeeping.
• Commitment to self-reflection and learning.
• Effectively communicates and understands job instructions both verbally and written in the English language.
