Job Overview:

Our client, an alternative asset manager with over $5 billion in assets under management, is seeking a Tax Manager for its New York office. The role involves acting as a subject matter expert on all tax matters related to funds, collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders.

Compensation: $140,000 - $170,000 base salary plus bonus.

Location: New York, NY (3/2 hybrid work arrangement)

Responsibilities as the Tax Manager:

• Completion and filing of tax returns for the investment funds, including the ongoing assessment and review of tax returns and related information forms and elections.
• Act as a subject matter expert and key liaison internally (Investment, Fund Accounting, Operations, Compliance, etc.)
• Deliver industry and technical expertise related to taxation through reports, interactions, technical work, and high-quality deliverables.
• Evaluate existing business processes and policies and advise on policy and tax changes.
• Research, develop documentation, and respond to tax correspondence.
• Stay up to date on jurisdictional rules and any changes in regulations and tax filings to apply regulatory changes effectively.

Qualifications for the Tax Manager:

• 5 to 8 years of tax experience from public accounting or a hedge fund/alternative asset management firm.
• CPA or CA preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge in tax matters.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various teams.
• Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.
