Job Overview – Underwriting Associate:

Our client seeks a detail-oriented Underwriting Associate in Chicago, IL, to assess new investment opportunities and manage existing portfolio investments. In this hybrid role, you'll handle the full underwriting process, from due diligence to preparing financial analyses and credit approval memos.

Location: Chicago, IL

Compensation: $100,000 – $150,000/year bonus

Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Responsibilities as the Underwriting Associate:

• Investment Review: Assess new investment opportunities by analyzing Confidential Information Memorandums across various industries.
• Due Diligence: Conduct thorough due diligence, including reviewing management presentations, analyzing data, conducting market research, and consulting with industry experts.
• Data Preparation: Prepare diligence and financial data requests for evaluating new deals.
• Credit Memorandums: Develop credit preview and approval memorandums to present findings to the Investment Committee.
• Deal Coordination: Assist in closing deals, including negotiating credit agreements.
• Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor portfolio accounts by reviewing financial statements, attending lender meetings, and providing updates to the Investment Committee.

Qualifications for the Underwriting Associate:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience: 1 to 3 years in leveraged finance, investment banking, or commercial banking.
• Skills: Strong analytical, financial modeling, and research skills with proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Abilities: Ability to evaluate and execute investment opportunities, manage relationships, and communicate effectively.
