Technical Operations Manager

Job Type: Full Time

Base Pay: $96,000 - $130,000

Bonus: 10 – 15%

Reports to: Director of Technical Operations

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes

Travel Required: Yes, 50%

Work Locations: The successful candidate must reside in one of the following locations –

Butte, MT (preferred); College Station, TX; Paducah, KY; Williston, ND

About the Role

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of multiple data center operations, policies, procedures, personnel, and associated building systems in a reliable, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
  • Ensures work is performed within established policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Oversee the planning and operational elements of all company-owned and managed data centers and related facilities.
  • Ensure operational compliance with OSHA, state, local, and federal safety requirements.
  • Oversee the planning and project management of all operational-related project activities.
  • Monitor, recommend, and initiate changes in the functions covered by onsite personnel and operational functions.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Technology in the implementation of a preventative maintenance program following manufacturers’ recommendations and current industry practices.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Technology and other executive team members in troubleshooting, analyzing processes and procedures, identifying weaknesses or deficiencies, and implementing improvements.
  • Defines, tracks, and manages operations and cross-functional projects that impact different operations systems.
  • Drive operational efficiency through coordination and collaboration with other senior management to improve automation, reduce incidents causing downtime, improve network performance, and enhance company resiliency.
  • Devises new techniques to expedite workflow, improve productivity, and improve operating environments.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with vendors and internal departments to drive the best long-term customer service and business results.
  • Confers and works efficiently and effectively with other departments to implement controls and schedules, resolve delivery problems, and help validate business, operations, and financial impact of large-scale data center projects.
  • Coordinates with the executive team in managing data center related contracts including negotiation of terms, rates, etc.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates staff performance including initiating and/or recommending promotions, transfers, and corrective action.

Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with monitoring systems and automated software platforms


Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience in a data center mining operation or similar field
  • 3 years of experience in managing multiple reporting locations with a minimum of 20 direct and indirect reports.
  • Experience with troubleshooting
  • Other combinations of experience may be taken into consideration on a case by case basis.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • Experience with remote reporting
