The Senior Research Strategist will be a key leader for the research team by ensuring the project research and analysis are aligned with the goals outlined in the scope of the work. The Senior Research Strategist will work closely with the business development team and senior leadership to design and craft responsive models to align with funding contract submissions. This candidate will possess demonstrated expertise in model design, research methodologies, and can expertly stage the process of a response through to submission for funding approval.

She/he will provide leadership on subject matter content and will provide specialized technical services on projects related to patient safety, healthcare quality, and health equity. Additional content area may include population/public health, and public policy. Other areas of focus may include Communicable Disease/Emergency Preparedness Surveillance, Chronic Disease Surveillance/Health Promotion, Behavioral Health and Substance Abuse, Injury Prevention, Maternal Child Adolescent Health Program Monitoring/Evaluation, and Clinical Service Quality Improvement, healthcare measurement, and Research. The Senior Research Strategist must work independently and collaborate where appropriate on planning, analysis, and report writing.

This position requires a self-starter who possesses strong research, organizational and managerial skills, and who can work well in a diverse, fast-paced environment to meet the daily support needs of the project, minority health, or related fields.

Key Responsibilities

• Leads data collection, analysis, and evaluation efforts using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies that meet the standards of rigorous research design and delivery.
• Produces reports or manuscripts for submission as a primary or secondary author, to peer-reviewed, professional and scientific publications.

• Responds to Federal contracting appeals that include solution requests by agencies such as Medicare/Medicaid, NIH, AHRQ, and ARPHA-A.
• Conducts, compiles, validates, interprets, and analyzes data and trends using approved statistical and related data techniques and methods.
• Designs content and presents at professional, scientific conferences and related meetings within patient safety, healthcare quality, and healthcare improvement sciences.
• Manages the preparation of documents for presentation and data visualization to convey findings to technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Serves as a lead content and subject matter expert/voice in project meetings, conference calls, webinars, and video conferences.
• Participates in relevant project and business development planning meetings that include the project team, clients, community members, patients, and families as necessary.
• May act as principal investigator or co-investigator on research projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Doctorate or terminal degree in a relevant discipline, or master’s degree in a relevant discipline, plus relevant experience

• Proficient in project planning, data collection and analysis, synthesizing information into insights, and report writing
• Skilled in project management, critical thinking, and analysis
• Strong proficiency with MS Office software

• Expert in database management and related computing skills
• Proficient with scientific methodologies and literature reviews to produce evidenced-based summaries and related guiding documents for
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Strong capabilities in problem-solving, time management, and project management are essential
• Excellent communications skills to include sound writing and delivery expertise

• Demonstrated abilities in complete project delivery record from design to funding
• Demonstrated expertise in research literature reviews to produce key summaries to guide contract response design for funding approval
• Expertise in designing and delivering environmental scans from needs assessments, and meta-analysis, data analyses, through to final report delivery is required
• Expertise in data visualization to convey findings to technical and nontechnical audiences
• Qualified applicants must be eligible to work in the United States

Preferred Experience and Skills

• Government contracting design, delivery, and funding leadership
• Demonstrated record of scientific and relevant content publication and research design

• Knowledge of human centered, and health equity research models are critical
• Knowledge of or familiarity with quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis programs and/or using R, SAS, STATA, NVivo, and/or related data treatment systems are essential
