Job DescriptionTransportation Mechanic
Assist transportation in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing the district transportation fleet. To include: Vehicle cleaning and fueling, oil changes for fleet equipment, assisting mechanics with major repairs, preparing all fleet vehicles for annual inspection, etc.

• Half of this position is Transportation Mechanic and the other half is Bus Driver.

Salary: $16.00-$22.25/hour (wage determined by years of relevant experience)
Term of Employment: 8 hours/day, 12 months/year
QualificationsTransportation Mechanic

• Completion of standard high school or trade school course, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Knowledge of standard practices, tools, and terminology of automotive diagnosis, repair, and maintenance techniques, including; electrical, electronics, small engine repair, and hydraulic and pneumatic component functions.

Bus Driver

• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the State of Kansas, and ability to obtain a Class B CDL with S and P endorsements.
• Maintain qualifications as a school bus driver.
• Ability to pass a bus driver physical examination.
• Ability to pass a Medic First Aid Course.
• Ability to pass a Defensive Driving Course.
