ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for Fiber Network testing, maintenance, turnup, splicing on backbone fiber network and business customers statewide.
• Strong knowledge of fiber installation, splicing, and troubleshooting with OTDR
• Routine maintenance on Fiber Optic Terminal Equipment
• Installation of multiple types of fiber equipment
• Maintain remote POP locations: audit records, battery plant, A/C units, and generators
• Individuals will be on-call on a rotating schedule
• Some overtime is required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Occasional overnight maintenance

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

Required

• Two-year technical degree; or
• Five years technical, military training or telephone experience
• Experience with fiber splicing required
• Installation of Fiber Optics cable, optical equipment, or outside plant maintenance experience
• Strong knowledge of fiber installation, splicing and troubleshooting with OTDR

• Strong trouble resolution and problem-solving skills

TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND SOFTWARE:

• Demonstrated knowledge of personal computer applications Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Outlook

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Outdoor and indoor work.
• Travel required
• Ability to lift 75lbs
