Aurora Mental Health & Recovery is Hiring a Medical Director Near Aurora, CO

The role of the Medical Director at Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is to provide medical leadership to medical mental health professionals in busy clinics throughout Aurora, Colorado. Our Medical Directors collaborate with various professionals to develop and support OP and Crisis medical service lines, provide educational supervision to prescribers as well as preceptorship and educational experiences to medical students, Psychiatric Residents, Nurse Practitioner students, and early career colleagues while delivering quality mental health care to a diverse population of patients.

The Medical Director provides guidance regarding behavioral health clinical service delivery, ensures the quality of the medical component of care, and provides guidance to foster the integration and coordination of behavioral health and primary care.

About The Team.

The Medical Team at AMHR is a multidisciplinary team that consists of nurses, medical assistants, patient care coordinators, Psychiatrists, and Nurse Practitioners with prescriptive authority in Psychiatry. These professionals work together to provide state of the art care to patients who need psychiatric or medical care while coping with mental health diagnoses. The role will work Monday-Friday, five 8-hour shifts.

$15,000 Sign-on Bonus Available! *Not eligible for PRN candidates, internal employees, and re-hired employees within 90 days from separation. Fewer than 0.5 FTE will receive a prorated sign-on bonus adjusted to FTE.

Based on full time (40 hours/week). Prorated if fewer than 40 hours/week. Paid in two installments: 50% on first paycheck, 50% on paycheck following 6-month anniversary.

Plus a generous $10,000 Relocation Bonus Available! *Only out-of-state candidates may be eligible.

Salary for this role.

Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Fewer than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE. Salary is also based on years of licensure and company equity.

  • $258,223.68 - $387,335.52 per year

Bilingual Language Differential Pay. *Rate depends on language requirements for the position and candidate's fluency.

  • 5% of base salary up to a maximum of $3,000/year - *The annual maximum amount will be prorated based on full time equivalency (FTE).

This role is for those who enjoy working with a team to arrive at solutions to complex health care problems at both the individual and systems level.

Responsibilities

  • Senior Leadership Accountabilities: Lead a team of managers or individual contributors. Ensure that managers provide focus and direction to their respective teams. Foster development of leaders and create a culture of accountability. Develop goals, strategic plans, company policies, and make decisions on the direction of the organization. Mobilize and influence external stakeholders and outside resources. Effectively communicate sr. leadership decisions and organizational strategy and plans to managers. Share key external updates with team. Set performance indicators.
  • Foster a culture of patient-focused care, understanding that the quality of the relationship is a key factor in healing
  • Champion staff collaboration and communication across the agency to provide outstanding patient care
  • Cultivate positive relationships with community leaders to enhance continuity and integration of services
  • Promote, encourage and model the practice of continuous improvement with a focus on patient experience, access, safety and treatment effectiveness
  • Provide direct psychiatric services through the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment of patients assigned, on a regular basis
  • Provides direct supervision to medical team members, as necessary
  • Participate in administrative duties as assigned, including chairing quality assurance or utilization review committees
  • Work with multidisciplinary staff to evaluate and triage according to level of acuity, as needed
  • Share 24-hour on call responsibilities with other psychiatrists for residential, outpatient and emergency care, as assigned
  • Maintain availability by telephone for face-to-face evaluation of emergency patients, as appropriate
  • Provide utilization review of all patients in continuing care to ensure appropriate medical/psychiatric services are received, as needed
  • Attend team and other meetings, as necessary
  • Provide consultation with other physicians and staff on patient care and difficult cases, as needed
  • Attend continuing medical education conferences to maintain excellent standards of care, on a regular basis
  • Support efforts to develop organization's talent pipeline so that staff will better mirror the diversity of the community
  • Support efforts to enhance the recruitment and retention of medical staff
  • Clearly communicate organizational goals around quality, compliance, standards, and policies to clinician-prescribers
  • Articulate, communicate, and hold clinician-prescribers accountable for performance expectations, access-to-care targets, and patient experience goals
  • Support efforts to enhance the education and training of Physician Operations/Medical Services staff, such as Psychologists
  • Identify, prioritize, and remove documentation barriers. Communicate vital administrative requirements to staff with completion expectations.
  • Foster a culture of honest dialogue, emotional wellness, positive growth, interpersonal courage, and healthy team norms
  • Promote an environment where diversity and inclusion can thrive, and where all people feel valued and respected
  • Communicate in ways that result in trust, alignment and collaborative working relationships
  • Lead by example. Welcome constructive criticism, admit errors openly, avoid a punitive response to honest mistakes, and hold others accountable.
  • Foster open communication, teamwork and champion positive change. Effectively manage disagreements and look for opportunities for win-win solutions.
  • Complete needed care coordination tasks for their assigned role

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine/Osteopathy
  • Residency in Psychiatry
  • Five years of relevant clinical experience
  • Three years of leadership experience

Certification, Licensure

  • State of Colorado Medical License or Valid Prescriptive Authority in good standing
  • Successful completion of an accredited residency training program in Psychiatry
  • Preferred: Valid and Current DEA required. DEA-X waiver a definite plus.**

Required Vaccinations And TB Test.

AMHR has prioritized the health and safety of our clients and staff and requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, receive an annual influenza (flu) shot, and receive negative TB test results prior to their first day of hire. Proof of both vaccinations and negative TB test will be required upon your first day of employment.
