Our Global Consulting team is growing; we are currently recruiting for a Director, Sustainability and Climate Risk. The role may be based in any of our North American office locations.
We're looking for a progressive-thinking and highly experienced professional with a solid background in delivering sustainability, ESG compliance, climate risk and adaptation strategies to join our team. This role will collaborate with our clients across a variety of and regions sectors to help define specific and fit for purpose sustainability and climate change programs and help build innovative strategies, and solutions.
The Director's role will help take our growing sustainability and climate change suite of services and offerings, as part of our Advisory and Sustainability business, to the next level in our global operations. You will contribute to setting the businesses' direction, growth planning and ensuring that we're working effectively to achieve our mission, meet financial goals and grow efficiently.
About the role
  • Leading the growth of Ausenco's sustainability and climate change business, including planning and execution of the related services for projects across our client sectors and within relevant areas of expertise.
  • Building and leading a team of highly capable professionals to deliver Ausenco's sustainability strategies and climate risk and adaptation services and programs to our clients.
  • Facilitating collaboration with resources across the organization to support delivery of sustainability and climate change services across all key client sectors, including minerals and metals, infrastructure, transportation, renewable power and government.
  • Overseeing the development and reporting on Ausenco's carbon footprint including GHG reduction and mitigation projects, as are included in our annual sustainability reports.
  • Preparing briefings, strategies, action plans for the development and provision of the services.
  • Building and fostering a strong reputation both internally and within the marketplace as a sustainability and climate change thought leader, to maintain and enhance revenue opportunities with new and existing clients and enhance cross-selling of Ausenco services.
  • Supporting delivery of our corporate sustainability strategy and finding better ways to help deliver sustainable outcomes for our clients.
  • Preparing or contributing to proposals, estimates and the scoping of projects.
About you
You are an experienced management consultant looking for your next challenge and can offer the following skills and experience:
  • Extensive experience within consulting from a high-growth, dynamic organization, preferably in engineering consulting or business management.
  • Leading multi-disciplinary teams with the diverse suite of technical expertise required to develop effective solutions to meeting climate change challenges.
  • Demonstrated track record of consulting on sustainability strategies, climate change projects, GHG accounting and reporting scopes and developing adaptation plans and in ensuring business integration.
  • Familiarity with key sectors including mining, transportation, renewable energy and/or government.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to create and deliver persuasive presentations.
  • Commercial acumen and experience expanding and developing business with new and existing clients. Previous P&L responsibility is an asset.
  • Ability to move initiatives forward by working through complexity and uncertainty to drive initiatives to completion.
  • Degree in science, engineering, or business. Having authored publications is an asset.
  • Fluent English is required for collaborating with global teams. Spanish, Portuguese and/or French language skills will be an asset.
