Austin PBS is Hiring an Audio Engineer Near Austin, TX
At Austin PBS, you’ll do meaningful work with a team of passionate coworkers. You will work on our numerous award-winning shows as well as countless special productions and events. We offer a supportive and collaborative work environment.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Audio Control Boards operation (sound reinforcement and/or recording) in studios and control rooms.
- Mic’ing of talent with lavaliers and/or booms
- Set Up and Break down of Band and Event Equipment (stands, microphones, cables, etc).
- Advance audio needs for shows and events when assigned.
- Cabling and patching / working together with the entire crew as a team.
- Set up and operate audio for presentation and/or simultaneous-to-air situations with networked audio consoles, IFB feeds, RF and hardline microphones, RF and hardline IFBs, intercom and PA.
- Embellish, edit, and sweeten audio in post using Pro Tools and/or Adobe Audition and sound effects libraries when assigned.
- Ensure proper care and handling of all company and rental audio equipment.
- Ensure Production and Special Event audio needs are met and executed with the utmost professional attitude.
- Attend and actively participate in station, department and show production meetings
- 3 years of experience working in a related field
- Networked audio experience (Dante Certification is a plus!)
- Calrec Summa/Brio broadcast audio consoles experience preferred
- DiGiCo FOH/Monitor consoles experience preferred
- Pro Tools mixing experience preferred
- Knowledge of television production concepts, principles, methodology, and techniques
- Knowledge of professional audio production and post-production procedures, techniques, and standards in a non-linear production environment
- Creative decision-making skills
- Proficient in Google suite
- Exhibit an understanding of public media mission and values
- Work in an environment with moderate to loud noise levels
- Ability to work non-standard hours (night, weekends) and overtime as necessary
- Ability to lift or carry equipment
- Regularly operate audio and computer equipment
- Regularly interact and exchange information with others, both verbal and written
