Autauga Co is Hiring an Athletic Director (12-month position) plus supplements at Prattville High Near Prattville, AL

POSITION TITLE: Athletic Director

RESPONSIBLE TO: Superintendent of Education

REPORTS TO: School Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a certified teaching field.
2. Knowledge of athletics including athletic administration, coaching
3. procedures, competition/other activities and best practices in the field.
4. Familiar with the rules and procedures of the Alabama High School Athletic Association and the National Collegiate Athletic Association Clearing House policies, rules and procedures.
5. Successful experience as a head coach, assistant coach and/or experience in playing the sport is desirable but not required.
6. Any other qualifications the Board may deem necessary in addition to the above qualifications.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Administer all athletic programs both intramural and interscholastic athletic competition as school sponsored activities under the leadership and supervision of the school principal.
2. Supervise the coaching staff, including the head coach, of each sport and/or activity operated by the school and keep the school principal informed concerning all athletic matters.
3. Support the positions of the school principal and the central administration when representing the school before the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
4. Serve as a role model for all coaches, team players and the student body.
5. Stress to the student athlete that he/she is first a student and then an athlete.
6. Ensures compliance with AHSAA rules for athlete and coaching eligibility, residency verification, and safety plans.
7. Promotes positive school-community relations by ensuring effective communication with the community through various media channels and holding coaches accountable for communicating with athletes, parents, school administration, and the community.
8. Manages all logistical aspects of athletics, including preparing schedules for facility use, issuing timely announcements of events and deadlines, arranging transportation for participants, and coordinating practice schedules for fields, and gymnasiums.
9. Facilitates the operational requirements of athletic events, such as hiring officials, team physicians, supervisors, and police for home contests, verifying athlete eligibility, and arranging accommodations for visiting teams as needed.
10. Approve the eligibility requirements/list for each competitive sport prior to sending to the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
11. Work very closely with school counselors and counsel all athletes to ensure that all are getting the necessary and required courses to qualify through the NCAA clearing house if they choose to attend college and will need NCAA approval to be eligible to participate.
12. Adhere to all rules and regulations of the Alabama High School Athletic Association, policies of the Board and rules and regulations of the school in the performance of all coaching duties and responsibilities.
13. Approve the scheduling of games and the arrangement of team travel to and from all activities.
14. Develops comprehensive checklists for ongoing evaluation of athletic facilities.
15. Coordinates yearly tryout calendars and schedules facility usage to optimize athletic activities.
16. Collaborates with head coaches to plan athletic trips and facilitates board approval as required.
17. Administer athletic budgets, approve all expenditures and make certain that all income is receipted in accordance with policies and procedures of the Board and rules and regulations of the school.
18. Adhere to and support the professional ethics of the teaching profession.
19. Follow all rules and regulations of the Alabama High School Athletic Association, the Alabama State Ethics Commission, and the Alabama State Department of Education.
20. In addition, follow all procedures in the job description for a head coach when the head coach also serves in the dual role as athletic director and head coach.
21. Other duties that me be assigned by principal.

To administer all athletic programs and supervise all coaches in accordance with policies, approved practices and high expectations of the School Board, and appropriate state and federal agencies; and to ensure increased athletic support, school spirit and community pride.
