Field Station Joshua Tree is seeking Maintenance Workers to join our team! Responsible for light maintenance, repairs, general grounds upkeep and cleaning of the property.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

  • Responsible for responding to property maintenance requests, and performing basic repairs.
  • Takes pride in the property. Aesthetic appeal and attention to detail is important, make sure the property looks its best.
  • Walks about the property throughout the day to remove matter out of place, debris, and pet droppings to ensure the property is neat and tidy.
  • Transfers matter out of place and trash to the dumpster or storage area as applicable, and helps to keep the storage areas clean.
  • Assists with unloading of work trucks and delivery trucks.
  • Assist with the setup and break down of meeting/event space.
  • Assists with site setup and management of plants and plant materials.
  • Assists with snow removal upkeep and clearing.
  • Completes assigned tasks and routine services as requested.
  • Understand and practice safety in all work tasks and duties in adherence to Field Station’s standards, as well as relevant Federal, State, and Local codes. Ensures property is being operated in a safe and effective manner by all team members and contractors.
  • Understand and carry out safe work practices in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.
  • Practice safe chemical handling as prescribed in Material Safety and Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Knows how to carry out hotel emergency procedures. 
  • Attend monthly Department and Emergency Response Trainings.
  • Keep Front Desk and Housekeeping informed of accommodations that are being worked on so they can be put out of order as needed. Additionally, notify Front Desk and Housekeeping when work is complete. 
  • Provide high-quality service and uncompromising hospitality towards all customers and Team Members; act and communicate that is friendly and accommodating with Guests, Clients, Team Members, and Management. 
  • Assists with special projects. 
  • Perform any other duties as requested by Management.

Requirements

Competencies

  • A working knowledge of basic handyman skills.
  • Must be knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment; and able to operate such equipment.
  • Ability to follow through on assigned tasks and projects. 
  • Ability to arrive for assigned shifts on time. 
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in the use of a diverse set of tools, appliances and equipment. 
  • Able to communicate effectively and professionally, and handle difficult situations and people with diplomacy.
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Excellent and attentive customer service

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Prior experience in building or hotel maintenance.
