APS is a controls engineering firm and a market leader in designing, installing, and launching automated production systems within the automotive and non-automotive industry. APS is experienced using the latest GM, Ford and Chrysler Architectures. APS has developed architectures and standards for non-automotive and tier customers as well. Our engineers are experienced with Body and Assembly, Paint, Material handling, Food Processing and Commercial Utility applications. APS engineers have several years of experience developing and applying cutting edge hardware and software applications with the use of many types of PC and PLC based processors.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Machine Vision Engineer located in Sterling Heights, MI. As a Machine Vision Engineer at APS, you will be responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge hardware and software applications using the latest technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and deploy innovative machine vision solutions for our clients in the automotive and non-automotive industries. Interface with Process, Controls teams, equipment suppliers and manufacturing integration suppliers. Ensure software / hardware application designs comply with client Standards. Provide on-site technical support for plant software issues, new equipment startup, troubleshooting, reprogramming, diagnostic equipment usage, and interfacing with skilled trades personnel.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 2 years of relevant experience in the automation industry
  • Experience with machine vision technologies, including cameras, lenses, lighting, and image processing algorithms and software
  • Experience with industrial automation systems and robotics
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control standards
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience with Matrox/Cognex Cameras
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C , Python, and MATLAB
  • AIA (Automated Imaging Association) or A3 (Association for Advancing Automation) Certification
  • Experience with the design and build of machine automation in manufacturing systems.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley studio 5000, Siemens Tia Portal
  • Experience with Industrial communication protocols and networking strategies
  • Experience with Neural Network Implementation, Altiz 3D scanners Implementation, PhotoNeo/Keyence Bin Picking systems using Fanuc/ABB/Kuka Robots.
  • Proficiency in machine learning and deep learning frameworks.
