Sr. Systems Administrator - Linux Objective : Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values and enabling ADC Teams. Responsibilities on these systems include SA engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensure continual innovation. Works under limited supervision. Responsibilities : SA Engineering and Provisioning:
Engineering of SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs
Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
Install and configure systems to supports ADC infrastructure and applications
Strive for continuous improvement and build continuous integration, continuous development, and constant deployment pipeline (CI/CD Pipeline)
Contribute to and maintain system standards
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale
Operations and Support:
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up and sent off site as necessary
Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary
Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
Provide support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues
Evaluate application performance, identifypotential bottlenecks, develop solutions, and implement them
Working knowledge and firm understanding of TCP/IP networks, LAN/WAN technologies, WLAN, VOIP, routing protocols
Implementproactive monitoring, alerting, and trend analysis; managing periodic reportingon the progress to the management
And any other required tasks as needed
Maintenance:
Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary
Upgrade and configure system software that supports ADC infrastructure and applications per project or operational needs
Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment
Understand when hardware and firmware updates are needed and update them as necessary
Qualifications:
5-7 years' experience with Linux engineering (RHEL, CentOS, Fedora)
Requires knowledge of web technologies (HTTP/s, Apache, Tomcat, HTTP Proxies, certificates, load balancers)
Requires knowledge of networks
Required knowledge Experience with Relational and Non-relational databases such as SQL & NoSQL
Required knowledge creating, implementing, supporting, and changes to the CI/CD pipeline using GitLab or Jenkins
Requires knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy
Required Experience with automated patch management Satellite servers
Preferred Experience with project management methodologies and practices
Preferred Experience with SAN Storage
Preferred Experience working with Cloud platforms such as AWS (EC2, ECS)
