We're looking for a safety-minded, skilled individual to help us grow our premium fruit company.

Summary/Objective:

The Refrigeration-CA Operator is responsible for servicing ammonia refrigeration systems in our warehouse and manufacturing facilities; they assure the safe, efficient, and proper operation of all refrigerated storage. This position reports to the Refrigeration Supervisor and is on call as needed.

Essential Functions:

Helps assure the safe, efficient and proper operation of all refrigerated storage rooms while working under the direct supervision of the Refrigeration Supervisor. Acts as caretaker for the Chelan facility, including snow plowing as needed.

1. Helps assure the safe, efficient and proper operation of all refrigerated storage rooms while working under the direct supervision of the Refrigeration Supervisor

2. Monitors and records room temperatures, CA readings and refrigeration logs daily

3. Inspects mechanical equipment visually and audibly daily

4. Performs technical adjustments to maintain specified temperatures and atmosphere

5. Stays abreast of changing technology in refrigeration field and recommends appropriate modifications to equipment

6. Keeps compressor rooms clean and neat

7. Maintains storage facilities, refrigeration and related equipment

8. Reports any out of the ordinary conditions which may affect the storage or condition of fruit or of equipment to Refrigeration Supervisor

9. Performs repair and maintenance of refrigeration compressors, storages, controls and related equipment

10. Checks operations daily where applicable

11. Participates in industry sponsored training programs

12. Helps perform post-harvest room treatments

13. Operates and repairs ammonia compressors

14. Operates and repairs air compressors

15. Operates N2 generator

16. Diagnoses, repairs and operates all aspects of CA systems

17. Operates and repairs all types of refrigeration valves

18. Diagnoses, repairs and operates all types of ammonia systems

19. Acts as facility caretaker

Supervisory Responsibility:

The Refrigeration Technician has no supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at the job site. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work at height using ladders, scissor lifts, etc.

Required Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• College/Technical School/Job Experience; must have adequate understanding of the operations of commercial and residential refrigeration systems.
• Must possess strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills, and the ability to diagnose malfunctions and defects in equipment.
• 3 years of practical experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Have previous refrigeration technician/mechanic experience.
• Familiarity with working in agricultural industry a plus.
