Location : Fort Lauderdale Miami region

Company Overview : Our parent company, an Information Technology Implementation company with specialized expertise in supporting Enterprise, Data, Wireless, Telecommunications, Government, and Cloud Network Service Providers, has an immediate opening for a Field Technician.

The role involves Telecom Installations for Legacy POTS Replacement / POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) for businesses throughout the region you reside in.

This temp-to-hire position offers an excellent career opportunity as the company is expanding. The work will primarily be within Florida, with opportunities for travel within the state.

Skills and Qualifications :

• Minimum of 1-3 years of telecom installation experience, with a basic understanding of cabling. Experience with Telecom Power, Rectifiers, Inverters, and Batteries is preferred but not required.
• Experience with wiring, punch down, wire wrap, cable running, and stitching.
• Ability to perform additions and removals of common telecom equipment and hardware.
• Training will be provided for leading verification testing and continuity testing, as well as analyzing, marking, correcting, and resolving specifications and problems with drawings.
• Provide technical support on-site or by phone.

Requirements :

• Strong work ethic and excellent customer service skills.
• Willingness to travel within Florida during the week.
• Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to sites within your region.
• Hands-on experience with business installations related to replacing Plain Old Telephony Services (POTS) and equipment.
• Experience installing VoIP and plugging into UPS backup batteries.
• Experience testing connectivity of voice and internet data units and their corresponding power supplies.
• Professional demeanor at client sites with good communication and client service skills.

Preferred Experience :

• LTE Router installation, including location determination.
• Commercial Business Voice Installations.
• Commercial Survey of wiring paths, including roof penetration.
• VoIP signaling and communication protocols.
• CAT3 & CAT5 / 6 cabling.
• Voice Demarc wiring (66 / 110 blocks, etc.).

Responsibilities :

• Receives and accounts for equipment / material necessary for installations.
• Performs basic installation tasks such as mounting equipment, cable rack plus fiber protection systems, and running cable.
• Maintains Customer Quality Standards.
• Adheres to Customer Safety Policy and Customer Security Procedures.
• Professional in appearance and performance.

Qualifications :

• Knowledge of basic hand tools.
• Ability to climb ladders and occasionally lift heavy tools, materials, and supplies.
• Knowledge of Customer Installation Standards and Documentation.
• Basic computer skills.
• MUST have reliable transportation.
• Experience with telephony butt sets is a plus.

Compensation :

• Hourly Rate : $23-25 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
• This is a full-time, temp-to-hire position with opportunities for career growth based on performance.
