Avantor is Hiring a Supervisor I - Operations - Kitting Services Near Buford, GA

The Opportunity:In this role, you will report to the Clinical Operations Manager and will work closely with Avantor's Clinical Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.
What we're looking for:
Education: High School completion or equivalent (GED); College degree preferred
Experience: 3 plus years applicable experience
1 years of leadership responsibility in manufacturing, assembly and/or packaging operations
Trainer certification is a plus
Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with assembly/production processes and applications within similar industry preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good team building and personnel management skills
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
  • Must have strong leadership skills and problem solving abilities
  • Must be hands-on, team oriented and committed to business improvement processes
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of management

In this role you will:
  • Provides direct daily supervision of production associates to ensure safe, clean and efficient production operations.
  • Applies sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising, coaching and disciplining employees.
  • Complete and conduct performance reviews with assembly staff.
  • Assign assembly operator tasks and review the Production Work Orders to make sure all information is complete and that assigned operators are provided with all necessary information and materials to carry out a correct assembly of product.
  • Assign production requirements to each assembly operator as new Production Work Orders require attention and communicate any applicable in-process inspection requirements to Assemblers and Quality Control inspectors involved in the Production Work Order.
  • Insure that all Production Work Order documents are routed to appropriate personnel for file maintenance; administer to filing requests.
  • Coordinate production area final inspection requirements for all Production Work Orders with the Quality Control staff using the Final Inspection form.
  • Notify shipping and distribution personnel of all completed production activity that is considered finished goods for customer orders awaiting shipment.
  • Provide information regarding on-time performance of production activity toward meeting customer timeline requirements.
  • Establish production work area layout to maximize assembly rates while insuring assembled product meets customer and company quality standards.
  • Recommend changes in production area that may result in higher productivity or increased efficiencies that benefit the company.
  • Assist in the determination of the most efficient production schedule.
  • Maintain organization and separation of products in production areas between part numbers, lot numbers; and raw materials and finished goods.
  • Supervise Materials staff to pull kit components per Production Work Order by part number, lot number and expiration date and record lot numbers and expiration date of pulled components on Production Work Order where applicable
  • Communicate any defective or suspect product to Quality, Production, Operations or Project Manager for disposition.
  • Record assembly lot review and rework data.
  • Advise the Production or Operations Manager of major production activity and non-routine changes to order patterns and other applicable information resulting from assembly lot review data compilation.
  • Participate in Safety meetings and provide input to increase safety in the workplace.
  • Perform inventory of specific items and participate in monthly inventory sweeps; report inventory shortages on garments used by assembly operators on a daily basis.
  • Supervise daily clean-up of production areas.
  • Assess training needs for assembly staff, as well as temporary workers ensuring that all department personnel are appropriately trained and that the training satisfies the company’s training requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
