Summary Of ResponsibilitiesThe Hotel Accountant provides the day-to-day financial and record-keeping operations for the Red Lion Hotel by Sonesta.
Account Reconciliations Primary Responsibilities and Objectives
- Oversees various account reconciliations daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly.
- Cash Receipts
- AP/AR
- General Ledger oversight
- Research transaction history to resolve any unreconciled items.
- Process statements for A/R.
- Manages and reconciles all accounts.
- Collects accounts by sending statement reminders and communicating with clients via phone, email, fax, or mail.
- Reconciles the accounts receivable ledger to subsidiary accounts to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
- Resolves outstanding AR by examining client loan agreements, and payment history and contacting clients.
- Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating transactions.
- Maintains client account for current contact information.
- Verify daily deposits against bank statements.
- Reconcile bank statements to general ledger cash balances.
- Makes journal and ledger entries in accounting system as directed.
- Produces monthly, quarterly, annual, and special reports as directed.
- Maintain and process all taxes due to local agencies.
- Preserves financial historical records by filing accounting documents.
- Maintain month-end reconciliations of balance sheet and ensure all accounts balance.
- Receive and enter all invoices
- Remit payments to vendor within accounting system
- Obtain and maintain vendor W9’s to be used for year-end tax reporting
- Reconcile all payments to bank statements
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or another business-related field is required.
- Twoor more years of experience in an accounting role is required.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Intermediate to advanced level knowledge with MS Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel (including Excel functions).

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Typically, Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm
- Exposure to environment typically found in an office building.
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 25 pounds.

- Must be able to sit, stand, reach, bend and stoop for extended periods of time.

- Ability to tolerate stressful situations.
- Ability to work under minimal to moderate supervision.
