Job Summary
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is accountable for duties related to patient care under the direct guidance of the Child Assessment Center Coordinator (Registered Nurse/ Certified Nurse Practitioner).
They are responsible for observing children during evaluations of alleged child sexual abuse, child physical abuse, drug endangerment, and witness to violence.
This includes observation of the comprehensive physical examination. The PCT is also responsible for clerical duties.
Education And/or Experience
High school graduate or GED is preferred.
Must be 16 years of age or older.
Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) registry preferred but not required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) completed within 6 months of start date is required and must be maintained.
0-6 months of experience is preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registrations
Certification in Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) within one year of employment is required.
Certification requirements to be maintained while working in department.
Requirement: Clearance from the SD Department of Social Services’ Division of Child Protection Services’ search of the Central Registry for Abuse and Neglect; being listed on this registry prohibits a person from employment. Failure to submit to abuse and neglect screening disqualifies an applicant from employment.
