Job Summary

The Laboratory Assistant specializes in the pre-analytic functions of the clinical laboratory, and performs various processing procedures on patient specimens. You will work alongside all testing departments. 

Position Highlights

• You will work with Lab computer programs and confirm Provider orders. 
• You will receive blood and non-blood specimens from the hospital and regional clients. 
• You will process and deliver specimens for testing using centrifuges and other lab equipment. 

Work Schedule 

• Rotate Day and Evening Shifts:
  • Days: 4:30 am to 1pm or 5:00 am to 1:30 pm and Evenings: 12:30 pm - 9pm or 1pm to 9:30 pm 
• Rotate every 3rd weekend and holiday
• Differential pay available for weekends and early/late shift times.
• Full Time; 80 hours every 2weeks

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent credits from a college or technical school OR 1 year laboratory related experience required. 

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) or Phlebotomist Technician (PBT) from the ASCP preferred.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

• $18.25 - $24.00 per hour
