Avero Diagnostics is Hiring a Courier Services Supervisor Near Mount Vernon, WA

Job SummaryThe Courier Services Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance of the courier automobile fleet, documentation of service, and repairs. The Courier Services Supervisor will supervise the courier staff and oversee the hiring, scheduling, and training of the couriers. The Courier Services Supervisor will also be responsible for various errands when needed and will fill in as a courier as needed. This Supervisor position will oversee and support staff at both the Mount Vernon and Bellingham locations.
Our vehicle insurance carrier requires that all Couriers meet the following criteria to be covered by our insurance policy:
  • Minimum 21 Years of Age
  • Three (3) or fewer minor violations/accidents in the past three years, and/or no major violations in the past five (5) years.
Employment is contingent upon completion and satisfactory results of a background check as well as our vehicle insurance carrier’s approval and acceptance of your current Motor Vehicle Record .
Northwest Pathology, P.S. dba Avero Diagnostics operates on a 24/7/365 basis; an individual is required to be responsive and work various shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays. Schedule flexibility with and without advance notice is required.
Essential Job Duties
  • Assure that all maintenance on automobiles is performed as scheduled.
  • Maintain documentation of all automobile service and repairs.
  • Supervise courier staff.
  • Train couriers on runs, maintenance, how to change a tire, etc.
  • Maintain weekly cleaning of automobiles.
  • Drive vehicles to pick up specimens, deliver supplies, and deliver miscellaneous reports on scheduled and unscheduled runs.
  • Assemble supplies for physician's offices.
  • Deliver supplies to physician's offices.
  • Shred miscellaneous and confidential papers.
  • Courier is responsible for delivering specimens to the appropriate Avero Diagnostics personnel.
  • Daily filing, including completed billing requisitions, supply forms, outside consultation reports, and miscellaneous documents.
  • Must be able to drive defensively and follow all laws and policies regarding safe driving.
  • Must be able to maintain strict discretion and confidentiality regarding all medical, personal, and business information observed.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, including but not limited to how to find a location and how to navigate through a physician's office to locate specimens.
  • Courier serves as a client services representative when interacting with our customers.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain department team operational standards which include but are not limited to work, workflow, client service, task assignments, policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Recruit and retain respective team members which includes but is not limited to the following: job description reviews/updates, resume reviews/screening, scheduling and conducting interviews, hiring decisions, etc.
  • Administers employment actions provides coaching and guidance to staff, and promotes staff training and development. Ensures staff is properly trained and adheres to SOP’s.
  • Communicates with other related departments to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed.
  • Provide effective guidance and direction to teams while creating an inclusive environment.
  • Manages team health and safety activities. Collaborates with EHS Specialist on safety program, reports injuries and accidents and ensures ongoing Employee health and safety.
  • Review, update, and approve team timecards within designated payroll deadlines on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Maintains professional attitude and appearance at all times.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree is a plus
  • Active and valid US State-Issued Driver’s License with acceptable motor vehicle record as defined and approved by our vehicle insurance carrier.
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required:
  • Supervisory role directly managing a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • High demand, fast-paced, exceptional client operations environment providing and understanding company services and policies across multiple states.
  • Development and management of operational standards which includes but is not limited to work, workflow, task assignments, policies, processes, and procedures
  • Laboratory and/or healthcare environment experience is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of automobiles. Ability to maintain automobiles, record maintenance records and supervise couriers.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Smartphone device proficiency.
  • The ability to drive in inclement weather situations. This includes snow, rain, and ice.

  • Demonstrates ability to maintain confidentiality at all levels; acts with high integrity.
