Lab Technician

SummaryAviagen is a leading poultry breeding company with opportunities all across the globe. We are currently seeking an individual to fill our vacant Lab Technician at our Longview Hatchery. The goal of this role is to manage the day-to-day operations of the technical aspects of the Lab. This individual will follow the activities required to meet ISO technical requirements. They will communicate with Lab Supervisor and Hatchery Management to ensure compliance. This position will report to the Lab Supervisor.
Job Description & Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with current ISO standards
• Collect and manage data to promote quality
• Comprehend and follow Quality and Technical manuals
• Follow lab processes and procedures to stay in compliance for audits
• Support veterinary diagnostic testing as required
• Provide technical support to ensure that information on diagnostic techniques and methodologies are reviewed and shared with the team in the lab
• Follow protocols and stay up to date on training with new lab methods
• Perform other duties in the course of their work which may be required (service room work on non-lab days)

Job Qualifications

• Analytical approach to problem solving and possess basic math skills
• Report writing skills, to include quality manual content
• Good communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Effective time management and ability to prioritize objectives
• Must be self-motivated with ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiency
• Ability to work well in a team environment as well as individually
• Ability to handle day old baby chicks and follow animal welfare guidelines.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule due to fluctuating hours in the lab per our customer requirements and order schedule.
