Aviation Search Group is Hiring a Chief Financial Officer Near Honolulu, HI

Job Description:

Our client is a private equity backed air cargo company serving the Hawaiian Islands with a fleet of owned Cessna aircraft. The business has an expanding footprint in the freight and logistics segment of the cargo delivery industry that is looking for a “growth-minded, airline, freight or logistics experienced” Chief Financial Officer. The Company’s mandate is to help double the company revenue over the next 3 years and improve overall profitability.

The Chief Financial Officer will be accountable for maintaining accurate, relevant, and timely financial reports, as well as manage all aspects of the financial process. The CFO will direct the accounting team, maintaining appropriate internal controls to guarantee compliance with generally accepted accounting principles while safeguarding company assets. 

Financial oversight responsibilities will include formulating and implementing financial policies, processes, controls, procedures, accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, business analysis, capital allocation, corporate risk management, financial audit and operations, treasury, controllership, and investor relations.

The CFO will partner with the CEO and COO to develop the 1,3, and 5 year strategic plan for our client and develop and execute the annual operating plan. This individual will have a clear mandate to work across the organization to drive value in the form of accelerated growth via organic and M&A methods, as well as optimal capital investment decisions across key business units. In addition to leading the financial function, the CFO will provide strategic and practical advice on operational challenges facing the company.

Responsibilities:

  • In concert with the CEO, COO, and other officers, directly oversee the development of annual business plans, and determine annual financial objectives with regard to revenues, cash flow, and return on investment measures.
  • Create and maintain a corporate financial plan that ties together important financial criteria and strategic objectives, as well as the company’s operating and financial plans.
  • Identify and prioritize greater value creating opportunities and help to capture them.
  • Form a deep partnership with the CEO, COO, and other key executives, utilizing their experience to influence the way the team thinks about the business and makes key decisions.
  • Lead all aspects of the finance and accounting function and various strategic projects and initiatives, including corporate accounting, corporate finance, treasury, risk management, budgeting, controls, financial reporting, tax, capital structure, FP&A, and integration activity related to M&A.
  • Enhance financial reporting and dashboards which influence key performance measurement or strategic decision-making; implement timely, detailed and accurate reporting and analysis of financials to executive team, lenders, and other relevant parties.
  • Assess / enhance accounting systems, controls, and policies to improve data capture, drive operating results and mitigate risks.
  • Take a "hands on" approach to all financial and operational issues in close collaboration with other executives, while also thinking broadly about the company's overall direction and objectives.
  • Manage relationships with board, lenders, bankers, auditors, vendors, and others.
  • Review, update, and manage legal contracts and purchase orders.
  • Take responsibility for profit streams from risk management and ancillary services.
  • Support management and investors in the review and analysis of potential merger and acquisition candidates, including financial and operational due diligence.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, accounting, or project management, progressing through roles of growing responsibility. They should have expertise in operational finance, accounting, FP&A, and process development/optimization.

The CFO will be a visible leader – energetic, operationally-oriented, and passionate about creating value. They will possess exceptional team building and leadership skills and will be adept at influencing others to meet organizational goals with a sense of urgency.

  • CFO leadership experience – finance leader with 10 years’ experience leading teams
  • FP&A and finance support experience
  • M&A growth experience is a plus
  • 5 years in freight, aviation, or logistics in an executive role
  • Growth-minded and experienced CFO, both organic and M&A led, from $20M to $50M in revenue
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and mind-set – willing to “roll up the sleeves”
  • CPA accreditation is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model

 This role will be based in Honolulu, Hawaii. Relocation assistance is available.
