Avint is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Accounting Intern to join our dynamic and fast-paced team on-site in Herndon, VA. • This internship will last for 90 days, with the possibility of a full-time position upon successful completion.*

Position Responsibilities:

• Research QuickBooks Online to fully optimize the platform's capabilities
• Set up automation within QuickBooks Online to streamline accounting activities
• Analyze the current accounting system in comparison to other Government Contracting Enterprise resource planning systems (ERPs)
• Develop an understanding of Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) compliance and support the financial team with remaining compliant
• Support the team with updating financial transactions within our accounting system and understand the corresponding General Ledger (GL) accounts
• Assist with month-end close procedures and reconciliations
• Learning how to prepare and review compliant expense reports
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Providing support for budgeting and forecasting activities
• Assist with timekeeping procedures and payroll processing
• Utilize the internship to gain insights into business operations and its accounting/finance functions
• Provide administrative support to Avint's infrastructure division and other leadership as needed
• Contribute to special projects or assignments related to business operations as assigned by the team
• Participating in training sessions and workshops to enhance accounting knowledge and skills

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Must be able to work in office 20-25 hours per week
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field
• Over 2 years of professional and/or customer service experience
• Completed at least 2 accounting courses as part of the accounting degree program
• Demonstrates accountability for achieving results, proactively seizes opportunities, and takes initiative with minimal supervision
• Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to challenge, negotiate, and influence effectively
• Must successfully pass a background investigation prior to hire
• Possesses excellent communication, organizational, analytical skills, and attention to detail
