Microbiology Technician – Cleaning R&D 1323725

A leading consumer products company is seeking a Microbiology Technician – Cleaning R&D. The successful candidate will be responsible for the prep, execution, and data analysis of laboratory testing in conjunction with the guidance of Scientists and oversight of the Group Manager as well as for implementing tools, resources and practices which serve to increase microbiological capacity while working safely alongside other team members. The ideal candidate has 1-2 years of experience conducting research in a microbiology or molecular biology laboratory. The company offers a great work environment!

Microbiology Technician – Cleaning R&D Pay and Benefits:

  • Hourly pay: $26/hr

  • W2 Employment, Group Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Retirement Savings Program, PSL
  • 40 hours/week, 3 Month Assignment

Microbiology Technician – Cleaning R&D Responsibilities:

  • Execute a variety of simple to complex microbiological laboratory experiments in collaboration with other technicians and scientists to support our business.
  • Collaborate with scientists to collect, evaluate, and present data to inform teams to enable project decisions.
  • Pursue constant improvement and innovation of techniques to drive efficiency and enhanced capabilities within the microbiology laboratory.
  • Manage the microbiology laboratory in collaboration with other technicians through laboratory upkeep, maintenance, and ordering all equipment and supplies.
  • Grow professionally through learning new laboratory techniques, gradually developing expertise in specific areas related to our businesses and products, and gaining visibility through engaging in project discussions, presentations, etc.
  • Maintain an active and engaged presence in the micro community. Is aware of current basic scientific trends and advances.
  • Contribute to the operating principles and best practices of this group and serves as the expert micro voice by working safely and with the highest integrity.
  • Contribute to knowledge management practices with standardization and consistency.
  • Ability to effectively network internally and externally.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to present critical information.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with individuals in a wide variety of disciplines and backgrounds and build effective relationships.

Microbiology Technician – Cleaning R&D Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience conducting research in a microbiology or molecular biology laboratory. Experience working under the guidance of senior lab personnel but operating independently.
  • B.S. in Microbiology (bacteriology, virology, mycology, etc.) or related field (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, etc.).
  • Experience with aseptic technique & working in a BSL-2 facility.
  • Experienced with the standard tools and methods of microbiology, such as pipetting, plating, identification, media preparation, including working in anaerobic environments.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel, Minitab, JMP experience a plus), including data entry, interpretation, graphing, and presenting results effectively through technical reports. Experience with data analysis tools, statistics, and basic programming.
  • Excellent time management skills. Ability to plan concurrent and subsequent tasks supporting an over-arching project goal. Ability to effectively calendarize laboratory processes.
  • Ability to effectively utilize primary literature to guide new research objectives and as reference to technical justification.
  • Strong focus and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize accuracy while following best practices in a fast-paced industrial laboratory environment.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with team members across various levels of technical expertise, including Technicians, Scientists, and management.
  • Coordinate testing schedules, balancing effective use of multitasking and single experiment focus with an emphasis on generation of valid, accurate, and precise results.
  • Problem solving and trouble-shooting skills to work with scientists to identify and execute appropriate experimental rigor to generate accurate data.
  • Strong team player, with a collaborative, helpful mindset to enable the Microbiology Group to work together to win!
  • Ability to work independently/with minimal supervision to execute detailed tasks, operations, procedures, and experiments while maintaining a safe, effective microbiology laboratory.
