Job Description
Are you passionate about shaping the future of our skilled trades workforce? Avista is seeking an innovative Recruiter to create and maintain a diverse pipeline of skilled utility trade employees through initiatives such as the Avista Craft Student program. As part of our team, you’ll play a crucial role in enhancing our employer brand at the K-12 level and educating potential candidates about exciting career opportunities in the utility industry. Your responsibilities include coordinating with regional and state education partners, collaborating with Avista’s pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs, attending career fairs and recruiting events, and maintaining positive relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, educational institutions, and regulatory agencies. 
  • Implements the Craft Student Worker program across multiple states and lines of business. Provides student coaching, facilitates performance evaluations, and works with site leaders and schools for course grades. Assign student work locations and mentors in cooperation with business unit leaders.
  • Collaborate with leaders on a regular basis and proactively identify future workforce needs. Develops recruiting plans and position specific recruiting strategies and works with leaders to execute plans.
  • Oversees the design and development of program content to be implemented in craft pipeline development programs, including objectives, structure, and delivery. Trains and leads others in the delivery of associated programs and materials.
  • Works with school counselors, career and technical education directors, regional skill centers, community colleges, and Career Connect Washington regional network representatives for program delivery, accreditation, and student recruitment. 
  • Participates in internal and external energy and craft career awareness and recruiting activities. Coordinates with other departments in the company to create and maintain outreach materials, websites, and related media to support energy and craft career paths.
  • Administrator and subject matter expert of the recruiting and onboarding modules of the HR Information System (HRIS). This includes training other users, leading implementation projects for new/upgraded modules and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in the execution of the company's Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity strategic plan. 

Requirements

Associate Recruiter

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources Management, Training & Development, Communications or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 1-year related experience in human resources, workforce development, or apprenticeship programs.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Hands-on experience with recruiting software, as well as Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) or Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS) preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel.

Recruiter requires all of the associate qualifications plus:

  • Minimum of three years related experience in human resources, workforce development, or apprenticeship programs.
  • A wide degree of creativity, near and long-term recruiting vision and business understanding is required.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, Visio, Cognos, and social media management.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Previous experience with implementing non-traditional recruiting strategies and recruiting a broad range of positions including non-exempt, professional, craft workers in the utility industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple projects, and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Senior Recruiter requires all of the associate and recruiter qualifications plus:

  • Minimum of five years’ related experience in human resources, workforce development, or apprenticeship programs.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or other Human Resources Certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others, plan, organize and coordinate multiple projects, and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding and experience using advanced sourcing technologies.
  • Ability to engage with passive and non-traditional candidates to draw in specialized talent.
  • Capable of providing mentorship and able to subject matter expertise with team members.
  • Previous program administration experience preferred.
Associate Recruiter Starting Range: $55,345 - $71,118
Recruiter Starting Range: $62,895 - $81,133
Senior Recruiter Starting Range: $81,672 - $106,174
