Title: Teacher Development CoordinatorGeneral DescriptionThe Teacher Development Coordinator position supports all aspects of the implementation and management of the NIET/TAP System in the Avondale Elementary School District to include training, partnership support, TAP school review and evaluation, new teacher induction, and additional projects as assigned. Work with the leadership teams, in particular Master and Mentor Teachers to implement the professional development and support aspects of the NIET/TAP System. The Teacher Development Coordinator leads the development and implementation of the New Teacher Induction Program including the New Teacher Cluster and Mentor Teacher training. Additionally, the Teacher Development Coordinator works with the Deputy Principal and the Director of Curriculum & Innovation to support school-based leadership teams to analyze school data to create school and cluster plans. Qualifications
Valid Arizona Elementary, Special Education or Secondary Teaching Certificate
Five (5) years successful K-12 classroom teaching experience (elementary or secondary)
Bachelor's Degree and related endorsements
Masters degree in relevant academic discipline (preferred)
Princincipal Certificate or equivalent, (preferred)
Three years of leadership experience (preferred)
K-12 school administrative experience (preferred)
Demonstrated expertise in content, curriculum development, student learning, data analysis, mentoring, and best instructional practices
Proof of effective individual mentoring and planning and delivery of large group professional development
Proficient with relevant technology
Ability to work directly with administrators and teachers in a diverse cross-section of schools
Excellent communication skills and an understanding of how to facilitate growth in adults
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Teacher Development Coordinator provides support, guidance, and training to school-based master and mentor teachers in alignment with the AZ PRIME grant in partnership with NIET team and district & school leadership teams to:
Support implementation of grant activities at each school.
Provide training for new teachers, mentor teachers, and master teachers on a monthly basis.
Provide school-based follow-up support to new teachers, mentor teachers, and master teachers.
Conduct cluster observations and provide specific coaching and support with appropriate documentation.
Provide support and guidance to master and mentor teachers in implementing school-based Coaching Cycles for teachers.
In partnership with the Deputy Principal and the Director of Curriculum & Innovation, the District Teacher Development Coordinator will:
Conduct school-based leadership team observations and provide specific coaching and support with appropriate documentation
Assist school-based leadership teams in analyzing school-wide student data as the basis for developing school plans that drive district goals.
Provide support to school-based leadership teams by serving as a secondary evaluator when requested.
Assist school-based leadership teams in preparing for and organizing the school review process
Grant ComplianceDutiesThe Teacher Development Coordinator works closely with NIET Senior Specialist to ensure grant expectations are met. These duties include but are not limited to:
Maintain district record of training for all district and campus level leaders and schedule training as needed with NIET.
Ensure integrity to the AZ PRIME project, including the selection, training and support of new teachers, mentor teachers, and master teachers.
Support district leaders in developing and maintaining long-term sustainability of the TAP System in all grant schools.
Work with NIET to schedule and coordinate site visits, as needed.
Work with NIET to collect grant evaluation data and information.
Support implementation of grant activities at each school.
Co-develop and co-present New Teacher Induction professional development and monthly New Teacher Cluster.
Co-develop and co-present monthly mentor teacher and master teacher professional development.
Other duties as assigned.
