AVT Simulation is Hiring a Human Resources Intern (Part-Time) Near Orlando, FL

Job Summary
The Human Resources Intern is responsible for assisting with HR-related duties on a professional level and reports to the HR Director. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: pre-boarding, orientation, policy implementation, tracking, company morale events, and filing/organizing.
This position is part-time and will not exceed 29hrs per week. Expected hours are 25-29 hours per week.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
  1. Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel.
  2. Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; helps prepare and maintain the employee handbook and the policies and procedures.
  3. Maintains employee personnel files and internal resume database.
  4. Tracks various important items for the HR department.
  5. Processes background checks.
  6. Helps with preparing and routing Employee Change Action Forms.
  7. Responsible for Employee Recognition Card administration.
  8. Prepares farewell frames for exiting employees.
  9. Creates award certificates, as necessary.
  10. Responsible for pre-boarding efforts and helping with employee orientation.
  11. Supports planning and executing employee morale and wellness program activities and events on a regular basis.
  12. Supports HR Director and HR Generalist as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organizational Development.
  • Junior or Senior level in college working on a curriculum towards a Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • A self-starter with a strong desire to learn.
  • Must have own transportation.
  • Available hours between 9:00am - 5:00pm.
  • Willingness to work on a flexible schedule.
  • Experience with an HRIS preferred.

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • Excellent organizational management skills with a solid attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to discreetly handle confidential information.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
