Company Description

Awesome Inc exists to help people pursue their definition of Awesome. We do this through investing in, and helping grow high-tech startups throughout the state of Kentucky. We specialize in software development, web development training for youth and adults, we offer a 12-month Fellowship program to help startups scale, and provide custom software solutions through our sister company, APAX Software. We work downtown in our 18,000 sq ft co-working space. We believe in building community around technology and entrepreneurship.

Our Internship Program (Team Alpha)

Team Alpha is our internship program and an integral part in helping us make Lexington, KY a better place to live and work. We want you to bring your passion, curiosity, determination, and healthy disregard of the fear of failure so we can grow the tech and startup ecosystem.

This is an unpaid internship but you will gain necessary experience, receive an infinite amount of Oreo's, and will build a network to help with your next steps. We truly believe that our interns are better set up for success and future careers than any other internship program.

We have three unique cohorts a year:

Spring - onboarding starts the week after most colleges start (i.e. mid-late January)

Summer - onboarding starts in the final week of May

Fall - onboarding takes place the days following Labor Day (Currently Interviewing)

Who we're looking for:

Our interns range from late high school students to recent college grads. Interns produce an extensive portfolio of work in a 15-20 week internship in Lexington, KY. Team Alpha members create compelling videos to tell entrepreneurs' stories, build web applications that improve processes and efficiency, build community by bringing people together through our various channels, design visual graphics and company branding guidelines to keep all of the above creative and cohesive, and hosting citywide events to spur on Kentucky's entrepreneurs.

We have 4 different areas we are currently seeking interns for - see their descriptions below.

Events and Marketing:

The Events / Marketing Team's mission is to reach and inform our target audiences about Awesome Inc, our initiatives, and events. We accomplish this through many avenues, including our website, newsletters, Google Ads and Analytics, podcasts, blogs, and CRMs. Typically, we look for interns with strengths in copywriting, social media management, data analytics, and video content production. Our events/marketing interns are also involved in the planning and execution of every part of the events we host.

Design:

The Design Team is responsible for keeping visual elements aligned with the overall mission, message, and branding at Awesome Inc. We look for eager-to-learn individuals who have experience in Adobe Creative Suite and design principles showcasing layout, typography, and effective communication.

Videography:

We are looking for a tech-savvy, organized, and creative individual who has experience using a digital camera, and a video editing (Premiere Pro is preferred). Applicants must have an understanding of how to storyboard in preparation for shoots and know basic camera settings: aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and white balance.

Development:

The Development Team creates innovative software for growing businesses. Work with Lexington's most talented developers to fine tune your coding skills. Our team works mainly in the web development stack including but not limited to React, GatsbyJS, Sanity, and Netlify.
