Axia Women's Health is Hiring a Medical Asst Team Lead Near East Brunswick, NJ

Hours: 8-5pm Monday - Thursday and Friday 8-4pm
Essential Functions:
Patient Care
  • Maintaining patient records by accurately recording medical history, vital statistics, etc., and scanning related documents into the EMR.
  • Checking schedules and organizing patient flow to help minimize wait times, efficiently communicating any delays to patients.
  • Accompanying patients to the exam/procedure room and assisting patients as needed with walking transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, etc.
  • Collecting patient history and assisting providers with various procedures and screenings.
  • Relaying instructions to patients/families and providing pertinent information.
Patient Records
  • Sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining labs and imaging reports and hospital notes in order that the provider have complete patient history.
  • Completing forms/requisitions as needed to ensure patient records are accurate and claims can be properly billed.
  • Adhering to patient confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide phone support, emotional support, continuity of care and initiate navigation for patients for pts needs and clinical next steps of care.
  • Assignment responsibilities pertaining to but not limited to:
  • Placement of follow up phone calls and needed outreach to pts, for coordination of care-
  • abnormal results, OB care. specialist referrals and next step guidance, Enter recalls for f/u testing when appropriate
  • Monitoring and maintaining follow up log for pts abnormal testing such as Mammos, paps and referrals to assure completion of care and next steps are upheld.
  • OB care tracking and compliance of appointments and recommendations of care.
  • Postpartum 2 week after delivery follow up calls.
  • Blood sugar and blood pressure logs as requested by provider for review.
  • Enter and send Mammogram and Dexa scan orders to radiology sites
  • Review of inbound transfer of care records and assess prior to giving MD for determination of care
  • Assisting triage nurse with phone calls.
  • Assisting providers and staff with facilitating first response for emergent care for ob/gyn patients in the office needing immediate attention.
  • Assist with transmitting CLIA and API renewals and certification needs.
  • Lab point of contact for errors related to collection and specimen processing.
  • Point of contact for Mammo navigators
  • Outreach to internal lab contacts to direct pt lab billing to appropriate parties to handle.
  • Oversee clinical Inventory needs
  • Maintain OSHA compliance for clinical end protocols.
  • Responsible for staff scheduling and provider schedule review of needs with staff
  • Coordinate the training for new medical assistant hires
  • Assist and prep for Procedures onsite- Leeps, Myosure, Novasure, colps, biopsies
  • Assist with phlebotomy as needed
  • Assist with direct patient care as needed for coverage needs
Quality Control & OSHA:
  • Cleaning exam/procedure rooms and equipment between patient visits.
  • Setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocols.
  • Maintaining and cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program.
  • Restocking exam/procedure rooms.
  • Adhering to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and standardized quality control methods.

Qualities & Skills:
Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Successful ability to work with teams across the business.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and at satellite offices, where applicable, as scheduled.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
Completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
Current national certification as a Medical Assistant, such as CMA, CCMA, RMA, or NCMA required.
CPR certification required.
Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Medical Assistant in a medical facility or office required, OB/GYN setting strongly preferred.
eClinicalWorks (EMR) experience a plus.
