Axient , Inc. is currently looking for a System Engineers to cross train as Software System Safety Engineers to support our customer located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. Axient positions are at 3 levels, (Jr. Level, Mid- Level, Sr Level/Subject Matter Expert). What you will do... Duties include, but not limited to: * Lead the application and management of a Software System Safety Program for one or more weapon/combat systems IAW Mil-Std-882E and DA Pam 385-16. * Conduct software system safety assessments and hazard analyses of hardware and software in a variety of US Army weapon and combat systems (missiles, rockets, radars, launchers, and communications) and related support equipment IAW Mil-Std-882E. * Prepare and/or update Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Analyses, and Software System Safety Risk Assessments. * Prepare and/or review Software System Safety Management Plans (SSMPs) and Software System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs) and related program management safety documentation. * Conduct and/or review software system safety assessments of new, updated, and/or modified weapon system and combat hardware and software, including change, waiver, and exemption requests. * Assess design and system test documentation for incorporation of software system safety related requirements and assess test data to verify/validate software system safety requirements. * Perform technical Software System Safety Reviews, using accepted Army techniques, and develop required documentation for Government acceptance; provide input for contract software system safety requirements. * Meet and/or coordinate with Government and/or contractor engineers, technical and test agency personnel, and Safety Office representatives to review software system safety-related documentation, test reports, test data, and theater incident data, and assess/coordinate safety implications and risk levels to Users. * Review contractor documentation for software system safety implications and to assess risk levels and mitigation strategies. * Review and/or provide input to contract documents, such as Statements of Work and Specifications, for safety-related implications to ensure software system safety considerations are properly addressed. Skills you will need... Minimum Requirements: * Must have an active and transferable DoD security clearance with current investigation at the required level. Must be able to maintain the required clearance. * Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering, Physics, or Science. * Jr Level Engineer will have a minimum of 3-5 years applicable System Engineering experience. * Mid-Level Engineer will have a minimum of 6-10 years applicable System Engineering experience. * Subject Matter Expert (SME) will have a minimum of 20 years applicable System Engineering Experience. * Excellent customer interface and communications skills, written and verbal. * Willingness to travel, up to 10%. Preferred Qualifications: * Master of Science (MS) in Engineering, Science, or related discipline. * Experience in the preparation, review, and input to safety review boards, including the US Army Fuze Safety Review Board; AMCOM Ignition System Safety Review Board (ISSRB); and ANCOM Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP) and other safety reviews to obtain Government safety approval. * Experience in developing input to contract documents, such as Statements of Work and Performance Specifications to ensure software system safety considerations and requirements are properly addressed. * Experience in conducting the managing a System Safety Working Group or Safety Integrated Product Team. #CJ
