Our Life and Long-Term Care (LTC) Underwriting Department is seeking a highly motivated Technical Consultant to join a dynamic and growing team. In this role, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of underwriting by driving strategic initiatives, safeguarding risk integrity, and fostering a customer-centric experience.

What You'll Do:

• Become a Strategic Partner: Identify project needs, develop action plans, and establish guidelines that propel underwriting success. Collaborate with Project Management, IT, and other departments to ensure a seamless "divide and conquer" approach.
• Champion Data-Driven Decisions: Lead data collection and analysis initiatives to identify opportunities for process improvement. Pilot and test new solutions, and share insights to continuously refine underwriting practices.
• Safeguard Risk and Compliance: Advocate for evidence-based changes to guidelines, processes, and systems. Ensure adherence to governance throughout project lifecycles. Coordinate internal and external audits and implement necessary revisions.
• Bridge the Gap: Function as the department's subject matter expert, translating complex underwriting concepts into clear and concise communication for all teams.
• Fuel Underwriting Efficiency: Identify and implement efficient processes that empower underwriters to work smarter, not harder.
• Embrace Innovation: Stay current with industry trends and advocate for advancements that enhance the customer experience.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare, etc.)
• Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience, with in-depth knowledge of underwriting systems, manuals, reinsurance, and underwriting philosophy.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
