Pay Range: Starting at $20.00 (Starting $17.50 locale differential $2.50 = $20.00) - $22.60 per hour (non-exempt - hourly) and considers preferred experience and preferred education described below.

This position includes an additional $2.50/per hour, locale differential at our Durango worksites and considers preferred experience and preferred education described below.

Location: Detox at Crossroads

Description of Responsibilities: The primary purpose Behavioral Health Technician - Detox position is to engage detox clients in detox-specific therapy. The Behavioral Health Technician monitors clients in the process of active detoxification or withdrawal to assure physical stability while clients are in the facility. Behavioral Health Technicians are to make reasonable accommodations to make clients as comfortable as possible during their stay at the facility.

Supervisory responsibilities: No

Physical demands: Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between AHS locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. AHS may make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Shifts, Breaks & Meal Periods: Employee is scheduled to work four ten hour shifts and two ten-minute paid breaks are included and a 30-minute (paid) meal period to be scheduled on site no later than 5 hours after the start of the shift.

Travel required: Yes

  • Continued employment in position is contingent upon satisfactory completion of various required trainings and inoculations sequences including but not limited to the following: Hepatitis, Infectious Disease.
  • Must be knowledgeable regarding patient health information and HIPAA compliance.
  • Must be organized and demonstrate the ability to follow guidelines.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to be self-directed.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to follow the organization’s confidentiality and security rules.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of AA/NA very helpful. 
  • A high degree of emotional maturity and the ability to maintain a level of courtesy and professional decorum in adverse circumstances.
  • Basic counseling skills including the ability to listen without judging, empathizing with the client, and being able to respond appropriately.
  • The ability to function at peak performance levels during nighttime hours if required.
  • Ability to observe and describe behavior and/or symptomatic changes.
  • Ability to seek supervision when needed.
  • Need to possess good communication skills and ability to provide constructive feedback to other staff.
  • Working knowledge of Windows based computer applications to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, and Internet Access.
  • Ability to follow established universal precautions and report potential exposure to a communicable disease immediately.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including calculator, copy machine, fax and multi-line telephone. Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a sometimes-hectic environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Must have current driver’s license and ability to be commercially insured and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with AHS commercial insurance agency.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Ability to take on additional duties when necessary.

  • COVID Vaccination Status
  • CPI training within 90 days
  • QMAP training within 90 days
  • BLS certification required
