Job Details:

JOB TITLE: Patient Referral Specialist

CONTRACT DURATION: 13 Weeks
SHIFT (8 Hours, 5 Days): 8:00 – 4:30 p.m.

LOCATION: Phoenix, AZ

ONBOARDING TIME: Expect 3-5 weeks from offer acceptance to start date.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS (due at time of phone screen with recruiter)

· Documentation of Covid Vaccination and Booster

· Copy of diploma for highest level of completed education.

· Two manger/supervisor references who you have worked with in the last year (Name, Company, Phone Number, Email Address)

· Upcoming RTO for the duration of the contract. (March. 2024 –July 2024)

· Interview availability for the next 7-10 days.

· Resume with last seven years of work history - all work history gaps of 90 days must be explained.

DETAILS ABOUT THE POSITION

· Utilizes electronic medical record to schedule, re-schedule and cancel appointments for outpatient radiology exams and procedures.

· Verifies all medical imaging outpatient procedures obtaining necessary appointment information including patient history, physician order, and diagnosis.

· Ensures assigned referral work queues are monitored throughout the day. New outside Imaging orders should be transcribed within 3 business days (not applicable for prior authorizations); follow ups are completed according to assigned timelines and status changes are done according to department processes/policies.

· Updates patient demographic and insurance information as needed to ensure the accurate information on file.

· Provides feedback to provider when insurance payer denies authorization of payment.

· Contacts patient to inform them of referral status and appointment date/time.

· Demonstrates working knowledge of various automated eligibility, appointment, computer systems and web-based applications.

· Completes and updates all online forms.

· Provides ongoing and timely communication to both the referring office/provider and/or the referred to office/provider.

· Works closely and timely with clinic staff to ensure they are completing all mandatory fields of the referral.

· Completes patient phone calls as necessary.

· Assists in routing calls to other departments, documents given information in referral notes and helps ensure patient’s needs are addressed.

· Greets walk up appointments and acts as a resource person to patients, visitors, and other customers, with the knowledge to explain protocols, make comfortable, diffuse anger and follow up within the department.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

· Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience working directly with insurance providers or with appointment scheduling experience that demonstrates an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

· Prefer experience in a healthcare environment involving data reconciliation or in a call center with high volume patient contact through the use of phones.

· Prefer prior healthcare or clinic patient registration and or scheduling experience.

· Experience within a Healthcare/Hospital Setting (Preferred)

· Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills both verbally and in writing including knowledge of basic grammar, spelling & punctuation.

· Requires basic math, data entry and keyboarding skills.

· Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute is desired.

· Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are strongly preferred.

· Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

· Knowledge of medical terminology is strongly preferred.

· Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
