If you have a passion and a gift for inspiring young minds, we are looking for you. We are currently recruiting a Special Education Math Teacher to join our team.

PS Academy Arizona is a private school serving children and young adults with autism and other exceptionalities. The school provides a comprehensive instructional program using multisensory instruction, personalized attention to individual needs, customized research-based programming, social-emotional skills, fundamental life skills, post-graduation career and job training.

The teacher's role is to develop engaging and innovative lessons that allow our students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The ideal candidate also believes in collaboration with other colleagues and promotes understanding and communication in a diverse learning and cultural environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Creating lesson plans: Tailoring lesson plans and instructional materials to individual students’ needs
  • Providing Instruction: Teaching students in small groups or individually, and providing support instruction in the classroom
  • Using strategies: Using visual and auditory examples, real-life situations, graph paper, and uncluttered worksheets
  • Evaluating Students: Assessing students’ abilities and administering formal and informal tests, and providing progress updates to students, parents, and administrators
  • Providing guidance: Inspiring students to achieve learning milestones and serving as a positive role model
  • Building Relationships: Developing and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, and coworkers

Job Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education, math or another related field
  • 1 year as a Special Education Teacher, preferably teaching secondary math education
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing

Preferred:

  • Mastery and enthusiasm for best practices in Autism education
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Comfortable working and teaching in a team environment
