Job Summary
B&A is looking for a Senior Database Management Specialist join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Management Specialist to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in database management, with specific expertise in Qlik. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity, performance, and security of our databases, as well as supporting data integration and business intelligence initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex databases to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability.
  • Perform database tuning and optimization.
  • Monitor database performance and implement changes as necessary to improve efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain Qlik applications, dashboards, and reports to support business intelligence needs.
  • Integrate Qlik solutions with various data sources.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on Qlik applications.
  • Design and manage ETL processes to integrate data from various sources.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across integrated systems.
  • Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with data analysts, developers, and other IT professionals to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Generate reports on database performance, usage, and security.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3 years developing dashboards using data visualization technologies, such as PowerBI, Qlik Sense, Tableau (Qlik Sense highly preferred).
  • 7 years in a technical analysis or development role with databases, data integration, data mining, big data.
Required Skills
  • Experience working on a software development program with complex data visualization needs
  • Experience using Excel charts and graphs
  • Good communications skills, particularly in requirements definition and documentation of visualization artifacts
  • Strong SQL experience on large complex datasets
  • Ability to learn new tools quickly as needed to provide new ideas for solving problems
  • Ability and desire to work with other program staff and customers to reach design decisions within given constraints
  • Excellent diplomacy and communication skills with both clients and technical staff
Desired Skills
  • Competence in Python, Spark, and PySpark.
  • Competence in statistics
  • Familiarity with CSV and JSON data formats
  • Experience working with federal government clients
  • Experience with ETL and business intelligence tools (Informatica)
  • Experience with AWS cloud services
Security Clearance
  • Eligible to obtain a security Clearance.
