Fiber Optic Splicer
B Robinson Inc. is looking to grow its fiber splicing team in the Austin area. We are looking for well qualified applicants that are able to bring their experience and help grow our team. The ideal candidate would be proficient in working with live fiber and cutting over cables during maintenance windows.

Under minimal supervision, repair, maintain, test, proof or adjust as needed all fiber optic cables and related equipment in coordination with the Construction Team.
Respond to fiber damage events, perform investigation & splicing repairs of fiber optic cables and report all information concerning damages.
Testing and troubleshooting continuity of fiber optic networks
Maintain and document fiber splicing and splitter configurations.
Splice fiber optic cables and splice cases with a thorough knowledge of standards, materials and techniques utilizing single and mass fusion splicing equipment
Splice fiber optic cables and splice cases with a thorough knowledge of standards, materials and techniques utilizing single and mass fusion splicing equipment
Splicing on new construction and restoration for a variety of cable types up to 864ct (Loose Tube, Ribbon, Micro, etc)
Knowledge of installation methods, terminating, testing and documenting fiber infrastructures.
Must be comfortable entering and maintaining existing splice enclosures & entering nodes, amps and passive equipment.
Ability to read and interpret OTDR and iOLM results.
Maintain fiber asset inventory and splicing records
Communicate with Project Manager and Team Leader on workload status to meet designated goals.
Maintain positive attitude and strong work ethic that can provide high productivity with minimal supervision
Have strong attention to detail and perform duties accurately
Ability to safely utilize bucket trucks, access manholes and hand holes. Use ladders to access various installation and construction points as required.
Understands Safety requirements and proper traffic control procedures
Experience in troubleshooting and providing technical support.
Manage multiple projects at one time
Applicants must have:
At least 5 years hands-on/field experience in fiber splicing, test equipment & restoration
At least 3 years experience performing advanced analysis and troubleshooting of problems / issues while assisting the NOC/customer
Be available for 7 day / 24-hour stand by on-call rotation as needed
Ability to work days, weekends, evenings and holidays and participate with on-call rotation as needed
Ability and willingness to work long and unpredictable hours if required, including work after normal business hours in the event physical restoration of fiber plant is needed
Requires a mixture of day and night work.
Must have a Valid driver’s license
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35 – $40 per hour
