Baby-Friendly USA Inc is Hiring a Board member Near Itasca, IL

The Baby-Friendly USA (BFUSA) mission is to improve maternity care practices which support breastfeeding. We are the accrediting body and national authority for the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) for the United States.

We coordinate and conduct all activities necessary to confer the prestigious BFHI designation in the United States.

We are seeking qualified volunteers to join the External Review Board (ERB) team. This is a fully remote role and confidential in nature.

Orientation will be provided once the application is reviewed and approved.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

Volunteer ERB members provide the final decision on each assessment. This is done by a casting of ballots, after a thorough review of assigned assessment reports against the corresponding standards of the Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria (GEC).

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Review and evaluate at least 2-3 blinded Assessment Reports per month, utilizing the Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria for Facilities Seeking BFHI Designation / Re-Designation.
  • Communicate with the Accreditation Director questions regarding the interpretation of the Guidelines and Evaluation applied to the report.
  • Report designation / re-designation decision via electronic ballot submitted within two weeks of receipt of Assessment Report.
  • Participate in discussions with ERB Chairs as necessary to reach consensus decisions.
  • Consistently attend bi-monthly conference calls with BFUSA management and colleagues.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of this volunteer role, and the BFUSA Evaluation Assessment Tools / Policies
  • Disclose specific conflicts of interest and communicate with management regarding availability in a timely manner

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and understanding of the most current version of the United States Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria
  • Medical Doctor
  • Certified Nurse Midwife
  • Registered Nurse
  • International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
  • Registered Dietitian

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • 10years experience working in a maternity care unit of a hospital
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria at a healthcare facility
  • Knowledge of the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Use of computer with internet connection
  • Personal email
  • Capability of keeping electronic information secure from unintentional disclosure
  • Use of video platforms for meetings
