What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fixed Asset Accountant position at Badlands Tank Lines?
Overview:
The Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining all Company trucks, trailers, buildings and other equipment through a variety of software platforms and ensuring that these assets are accurately accounted for in the company’s financial records.
This position will also play a key role in assisting the Fleet Maintenance Manager in daily operational duties and special assignments as needed.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records of all company equipment through the use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Dispatch Commodity and other fixed assets software.
- Review, reconcile and analyze big data from differing sources utilizing advanced Excel functions.
- Review of existing fixed assets for obsolescence or impairment and conducting periodic physical inventory checks.
- Calculating depreciation for all fixed assets and recording depreciation expense.
- Recording the newly acquired and disposed assets.
- Conducting analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.
- Assist the Fleet Maintenance Manager in equipment maintenance and DOT compliance.
- Prepare detailed reports on the status of equipment, locations and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ability to travel and work remotely at Company assigned locations as needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and ability to successfully pass required skills test.
- One year or more of fixed asset accounting experience preferred.
- Preferred knowledge of FullBay, Dispatch Commodity and Thompson Reuters FAS applications.
- Applied knowledge of Microsoft Word, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, and deliver quality work in an efficient manner.
