BakerRipley is seeking a Director of Data Strategy and Impact to manage our Data Strategy and Impact team, reporting to the Vice President of Community Impact and Vitality. This position will ensure our team meets planned reporting commitments, remains responsive to the emerging community and agency needs, and works with management to allocate and prioritize resources effectively.

The Director of Strategy and Impact will be responsible for:

  • In partnership with the Vice President of Community & Impact and Director of Integration Strategy and Impact establish BakerRipley’s theory of change and the development of logic models and impact metrics that support this theory of change, ensuring that accurate and timely data is available to inform decisions and demonstrate impact.
  • Collaborate inside and outside the organization to apply innovative approaches to the use of shared data, measurement, and accountability.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Senior Directors (Programs, IT, Development, Marketing and Communications, etc.) to assist in the continuous improvement data collection, analysis, reporting, sharing, and storytelling.
  • Provide standard and custom reporting to support updates to BakerRipley’s Board of Directors, funders, donors, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Manage interns and contractors as needed, develop scope of work for contracted services, and coordination with BakerRipley team.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of extended and collective impact tracking, measurement, analysis, and reporting.
  • Evaluate BakerRipley’s existing data collection and analysis capabilities with the current system, make recommendations for adjustments and work with system developers to make changes.
  • Lead and support the agency’s culture around data, evaluation projects on behalf of the agency.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement in reporting and evaluation processes through ability to understand data structure, database development and management, algorithm creation and maintenance.
  • Identifies and pursues strategic efforts to increase the value of agency data. The individual must be comfortable going beyond the data towards appropriately communicating the insights which stem from the data we acquire and coaching their team members to do the same.
  • Develop and implement standard process and procedures to move from yearly or quarterly manual-based reporting to more real-time digital consumption of dashboards through CRM implementation and internal publications.
  • Operate as a leader in conjunction with IT and third-party database partners / vendors to develop, maintain, and support data management and reporting through our CRM database, ensuring recommendations move to implementation. Able to act as translator between technical and program teams.
  • Work in partnership with Executive Leadership (IT, Procurement, Programs, Compliance & Quality Assurance departments) to strengthen our data infrastructure and integrity through setting data strategy plans, governance policies, supporting education efforts across the agency. May be required to support audit compliance requests as needed.
  • Supports new program design and launch to prove and improve BakerRipley’s impact on individual and family outcomes aligned to agency strategy.
  • Partners with external NGO, Education, Research, and public partners to pursue data sharing agreements so that we can more broadly inform design and demonstrate implications of the outcomes we strive to deliver.
  • Shares knowledge and increases awareness of BakerRipley’s approach and impact through publications and presentations when possible.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the research & evaluation team and oversees all research and evaluation commitments with the support of the Vice President of Community Impact & Vitality.
  • Ensures major agency accountability efforts including United Way reports, Program Performance Reports, and other funder reporting requirements.
  • Ensures CRM (Salesforce) implementation to meet current and future needs (0 – 5 years out).
  • Manages the program evaluation and outcomes / outputs reporting process – planning, team assignment, data collection, storage, analysis, dissemination, and continuous improvement.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements improvements in automation and visualization of Evaluation team deliverables through continuous learning and collaboration with other departments and divisions.
  • Leads Continuous Quality Improvement efforts with Program Leadership with a focus on using data to make decisions and improve program performance.
  • Support Public Grant and Philanthropic development staff to inform proposals and draft reports to meet both funding source requirements and agency standards of quality.
  • Supports program design by researching best practices, informing logic models / Theories of Change, and providing evaluation tools / methods.
  • Conduct training to inform others about concepts, practices, learnings, and best practices to both elevate Agency externally and expand staff capacity internally.
  • Identifies and participates in professional development opportunities for themselves and their direct reports.
  • Lead participant in regional data analysis, management forums led by other non-profit collaboratives and convenors (i.e. United Way MVC data governance committee)
