Job Title: Curriculum Leader

Supervised by/Reports to: Academic Dean and Principal

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Goals:

  • To develop an instructional relationship with each teacher in the assigned school
  • To serve as an instructional coach and mentor to teachers, co-teaching when needed
  • To assist teachers in the integration of digital resources into the curriculum
  • To frequently monitor academic progress of students in all classes using a district-wide analytics platform that assesses progress in “real-time” format
  • To frequently monitor teacher instructional effectiveness in all classes
  • To be trained in the Guided Reading and eMints programs
  • Meet with central office curriculum and technology staff on a weekly basis
  • To give frequent updates to the principal regarding classroom instruction and student progress in all classes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Alabama Professional Educator’s Certificate.
  • Minimum three (3) years of successful teaching experience in the K-12 setting.
  • Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
  • eMints certified teacher or trainer or the ability to obtain eMints teacher or trainer certification within two years of hire date.
  • Training in Guided Reading or ability to complete training in Guided Reading within two years of hire date.
  • Ability to create learning units based on current research and best practices.
  • Ability to be an instructional leader across multiple settings and to work collaboratively as a team member.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication with the ability to produce and lead presentations through various data sources.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply digital resource skills and teaching strategies for various learning styles.
  • Experience and proven success as an educator who engages students in the use of digital resources.
  • Background knowledge of a variety of instructional strategies and proven success in the implementation of these strategies.
  • Superior leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with large and/or diverse groups.
  • Basic skills with traditional instructional technology devices (LCD projects, speakers, interactive whiteboards, etc.).
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary.
  • Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
  • Advocates, supports, promotes, and communicates all aspects of the Baldwin County School System curriculum and technology programs, services, and initiatives.
  • Works within the school system community to promote excellent customer service, effective response times, and provide expert insights into curricular initiatives.
  • Creates professional development opportunities at the school level that facilitate instructional growth and student academic achievement.
  • Assists teachers in gaining a high level of expertise in the digital learning experience and to integrate digital resources into the curriculum.
  • Models instructional strategies for teachers as needed.
  • Utilizes a variety of coaching strategies to differentiate support for teachers, both individually and in groups.
  • Supports school and system efforts in literacy and mathematics to reach the goal of students performing at or above proficiency in all areas.
  • Actively participates in and works with other school personnel in planning effective instructional goals, objectives, methods and curriculum.
  • Interprets and uses data (including but not limited to standardized and other test results) for diagnosis, instructional planning and program evaluation.
  • Leads professional development sessions at school sites.
  • Assists in professional development within schools and through the system using delivery resources such as videos, webinars, and remote learning.
  • Provides professional learning for teachers modeling instructional delivery using resources including planning, coaching, and assessing instructional tools.
  • Works collaboratively with teachers and students to effectively use digital resources during learning activities.
  • Promotes the ethical use of digital resources and assists in developing responsible digital citizenship among staff and students.
  • Communicates effectively, orally and in writing, with other professionals, students, parents and community.
  • Collects, receipts and submits school funds in accordance with school procedures and Board policy.
  • Participates in state-approved evaluation program as required.
  • Actively supervises students during assigned duty before, during and/or after school.
  • Supervises and/or assists with extracurricular and co-curricular activities as assigned.
  • Serves on school/system committees, task forces, planning teams, and advisory groups as required.
  • Supports school improvement initiatives by active participation in school activities, events, ceremonies, services and programs.
  • Engages in personal professional growth, adheres to professional standards, and demonstrates professional ethics, sound judgment, and leadership.
  • Participates in administration of state and/or standardized testing as assigned; establishes appropriate testing environment and ensures test security.
  • Performs duties in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
  • Models and maintains high ethical standards.
  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying instructional needs and works to help teachers improve their instructional techniques.
  • Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel.
  • Participates in training programs, professional development, or other learning to increase skill and proficiency related to job performance and leadership.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
  • Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns, and /or complaints in a timely and positive manner.
  • Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
  • Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by principal and/or supervisor(s).

Terms of Employment: Nine-month position in accordance with the Board’s salary schedule

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Baldwin County Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
