POSITION PURPOSE

This role will provide site operations training support documenting current workflows and processes within the site, and facilitating the transfer of shop floor skills, workflows & processes to team members. Will have primary responsibility supporting 2nd Shift Operations. Will work closely with functional leaders to assess site training needs and subject matter experts to ensure training / learning solves site needs. This role will also provide training content and training as appropriate. Demonstrates BAC’s values of Earning Trust, Embracing Responsibility, Showing Courage, and Driving Innovation .

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support and create work instructions content and training materials to support operations for all operation teams. Primary responsibility will be supporting 2nd shift team members.
  • Work daily with front line leaders to document work processes / procedures to align job training documents and training processes.
  • Maintain skills matrices within departments and update specific training plans as needed.
  • Coordinate with department leadership to increase skill and proficiency of all members.
  • Validate and document training of individuals.
  • Work side by side with learners to grow skill levels of department as a coach / facilitator.
  • Create an active learning culture through encouragement, positive reinforcement, timely feedback, and follow up.
  • Keep leaders and stakeholders up to date on the training status and progress of teams.
  • Create a rewarding learning environment in the classroom, and on the shop floor.
  • Update and post training and development metrics assigned.

NATURE & SCOPE

Initially reports to the Quality department. Provides hands-on training and mentoring to all operators in the plant. Partners with all functional leaders and stakeholders on training activities. Will share best practices with manufacturing sites in the Americas.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct training need assessments, identify subject matter experts including self to create curriculum, ensure training occurs, and measures results.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate learning groups.
  • Effective written communication including documentation of processes, and the communication of those processes with fellow operators. Ability to communicate with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated effective oral communication and presentation skills including the ability to communicate to team members at all levels of the organization.
  • Three (3) years training experience in an operations / manufacturing setting.
  • Capacity to listen, ask clarifying questions, and patiently provide answers.
  • The approach to training is well planned, organized, and methodical.
  • Ability to evaluate and provide constructive feedback.
  • Model a customer centric approach to training and exhibit a genuine desire for the development of coworkers,
  • Passionate about Continuous Improvement and sharing best practices with training partners.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to safety standards.
  • Computer competency with PowerPoint for presenting, Excel for updating data and generating metrics, and the effective use of online platforms such as ToolingU or other LMS.
  • Committed to continuous learning and self-development. Stay up to date on adult learning skills and delivery.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The working environment includes lifting up to 50lbs. Standing is to be expected up to 80% of the time. Additional activities include walking, reaching, bending, stooping, and sitting. Fine hand manipulation of controls is needed as well as hand eye coordination to perform changes. Working hours can include any of three shifts. Some weekend work overtime is to be expected. Working temperatures include both wide fluctuations within the plant as well as ambient outside temperatures.
