Job PurposeReporting to the Department Director, the Sr. Manager of Operations supports the agency in achieving its objectives, including project management, performance and compliance, marketing, metrics, technical support for the department’s key economic development, workforce development, tourism, cultural arts and agriculture initiatives.
Essential Job Duties- Supervises a team of managers responsible for performance metrics and compliance, communications (including written, social media and web), research, destination marketing, tourism, and general operations of the department.
- Supports the Department’s operations through effective project management and frequent contact with the Deputy Director and Director, the unit managers, and fiscal administration.
- Provides frequent, organized, and actionable updates on agency activities to the Director and Senior Managers.
- Coordinates the Department’s input into interagency planning processes that affect economic development, workforce development, and tourism.
- Develop scopes of work for consultant engagements and manages consultant contracts.
- Serves as primary point of contact for consultants, directing and overseeing day-to-day activities to ensure that work product satisfies County’s requirements.
- Manages customer relationship management system, including producing customized reports.

PlusAt least five years’ experience in economic development, workforce development, tourism or related fields preferred.
Strong background and experience in managing multiple teams and operational projects, and communicating updates to all stakeholders.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Preferred EducationMaster’s degree in public policy, economics, public administration, business, government or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Strong project management skills, including ability to coordinate across business units, County departments and other organizations.

- Familiarity with the Baltimore and Maryland economies and communities.

The work of this classification is essentially sedentary, but may involve occasional walking, other limited physical activity and occasional travel between work sites using personal vehicle.
