Baltimore County is Hiring a Senior Affairs Associate III (Nutrition Program Manager) Near Baltimore, MD

Pay Schedule VI, Grade 31, Regular Schedule: 35 hours per week

Under direction, manages, plans, organizes, directs, and supervises a major program providing professional nutrition services.
Essential Job Duties
  • Directs all aspects of the daily operations of the Federal Title III C-1 Congregate Meals Nutrition Program.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, controls, and evaluates nutrition services and programs.
  • Oversees daily operations of the nutrition office. 
  • Interprets, develops, implements and evaluates standards, procedures, and policies governing the operations of the programs.
  • Initiates, develops, promotes and implements new programs and special projects. 
  • Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates professional and support staff.
  • Assists in planning and implementing the nutritional component of public health projects and programs.
  • Plans, prepares, and administers operating and grant budgets.
  • Directs the preparation of reports, correspondence, and grant funding proposals.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff, clients, and outside agencies.
Examples of Other Duties
  • Represents the Department on various boards, committees, and commissions. 
  • Ensures adherence to all governing requirements of the Eating Together program (MDOA Program directives/Baltimore County/Older Americans Act/Food Safety)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Each position may not be required to perform all of the essential job functions listed.Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in gerontology, recreation, education, health, business administration, public administration, marketing, public relations, nursing specialty, accounting or a social or behavioral science;
Plus
At least four years' experience providing services to older adults, one-year of which is in a supervisory capacity.
Additional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four years for the required education.
Education beyond a bachelor's degree may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years for the required non-supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Skill in planning, implementing, and conducting public health nutrition programs
  • Skill in monitoring grants and operating budgets
  • Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to apply nutrition theories and principles
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state and local guidelines, regulations and procedures
  • Knowledge of marketing and media communications
  • Knowledge of working with the senior adult population

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.Employees hired after July 1, 2022 are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees' Retirement System, with very limited exceptions. 
Some positions may be required to satisfactorily complete County sponsored CPR and First Aid training. These positions must maintain certification throughout employment.
Physical and Environmental ConditionsThe work of this classification is essentially sedentary, but may include walking, standing, and other limited physical activity including travel between work sites.
Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation
Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening and employment investigation, including, but not limited to criminal background, education certification and fingerprinting checks.
