Under the direction of the Director of International Services, the Interpreter/Care Coordinator provides a number of services to promote full accessibility to BMS medical services for specified populations of non-English speaking patients and their families. These include, but are not limited to, interpreting, health care coordination, information/ referral, and outreach efforts in the applicable Language Community.

The interpreter will assist as needed to supplement onsite coverage for the target language.

Hours- M, T, W, Th, F - 8 am - 5 pm

Essential Functions:

• Interprets accurately for BMS providers and non-English speaking patients/family members of the specified language group.
• Provides accurate interpretation and communication of information (referral information, billing, medical procedures/tests, etc.).
• Contacts non-English speaking patients and accurately transmits messages from clinical teams via appropriate means.
• Documents activities appropriately in the Electronic Medical Records System.
• Uses professionally mandated techniques in the interpreting process.
• Upholds the interpreter's code of ethics during the interpreting encounter.
• Completes all bi-lingual tasks requested by the supervisor in a timely and satisfactory manner.
• Assists with departmental outreach and community health education efforts
