What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Assistant | Property Management position at BAMC?
We are seeking an Accounting Assistant in our Corporate offices in the Park Shadelands area of Walnut Creek. Our ideal candidate will be analytically-minded, highly organized, tech savvy, possess excellent computer and time management skills, and be a quick learner, with a “what’s next” mind set.
This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position. Monday – Friday, from 8 am -- 5 pm. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
- Reviews and processes invoices for payment
- Reviews all AP and AR entries for correct GL posting
- Enters invoices, writes checks, and processes vendor and resident payments
- regularly interacts with site bookkeepers and corporate accounting manager
- Provides training (either onsite or by Zoom) for bookkeeping staff at our properties, as needed
- Prepares journal entries as needed for the general ledger, including year-end entries
- Reviews, corrects, and balances rent rolls
- Reviews move-in, move-out and transfer documentation, and ensures security deposit reconciliation and refund is completed to meet California law requirements.
- Must possess the ability to learn new online platforms like ADP (for Time and Attendance Review for Payroll); OneSite (for transitions and data porting); and Yardi (data entry).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of GAAP principles
- BS in Accounting a plus
- Experience with Yardi preferred
- Property management and nonprofit accounting a plus
- Flexible, creative, well organized, with problem solving and communication and training skills
- Previous experience with Section 8, Tax Credit, or HUD housing is a plus
- Speak, read, and write in English and follow oral and written instructions
- Bend and lift 20 pounds, file in 4-drawer filing cabinets
- Must be friendly, patient, versatile, flexible, and able to multitask
