About Bancroft Summer
Bancroft Summer is the ultimate summer day camp experience for campers grades K-8 throughout the greater Worcester area. Everyone at Bancroft Summer is committed to providing an incredible and enriching experience for our campers. Our teachers and staff have a great impact on our summer day camps . Bancroft Summer happens on the beautiful 34-acre lakeside Bancroft School campus on the north side of Worcester. Campers enjoy summer days in all corners of our state-of-art campus and swim across the street at the YMCA.
About Worcester Partnership Summer
The Worcester Partnership is a year-round journey for rising first through ninth graders. The program consists of a four-week summer component in which students from Worcester Public Schools join us on the Bancroft School campus for 4 weeks. Each day combines the challenge and excitement of academics in the morning, with the spirit of lively camp activities in the afternoon. In addition, there are 8 to 10 weeks of Saturday Learning Activities during the school year.
Position Summary
  • Full time or part-time available. Flexible days/hours
  • Weekdays 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. from June 24 - August 2, 2024
  • Weekdays 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. from August 5 - August 16, 2024
  • Occasional off-campus travel may be required
  • This is a non-benefited position compensated at an hourly rate
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Must have a valid license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Massachusetts
  2. Maintain certification in BLS for healthcare providers (basic life support) from a recognized provider (i.e. American Heart Association, American Red Cross)
  3. Prior nursing experience in summer camp, school health, and/or pediatrics
  4. Knowledge of and ability to use Google Suite (gmail, drive, docs, sheets, etc)
  5. Comfortable utilizing electronic medical records (EMR) and databases
Summer Nurse Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Ensure the health and safety of campers and staff.
  • First aid, illness and injury management.
  • Review camper health forms.
  • Communicating specific camper health needs (allergies, special diets) to camp director and staff.
  • Record camper health office visits in their electronic medical record.
  • Accept and store all prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
  • Administer prescription and over-the-counter drugs when necessary.
  • Communication with parents and staff of camper’s illness or injury.
  • Be a medical resource that would bridge the gap between basic medical knowledge and emergencies.
  • Organize, maintain and utilize adequate resources for serving the health and medical needs of the campers and staff.
  • Communicate effectively with the Director of Health Services.
  • Perform daily office tasks and other duties as assigned during coverage of the Health Center.
  • Initiate emergency procedures for campers and staff as needed when on duty.
