Bank of the San Juans is Hiring a Mortgage Loan Assistant III Near Durango, CO

About The RoleWe are currently looking for a Mortgage Loan Assistant who will assist with setting up loan applications upon receipt, orders related documents for real estate loans. Acts as liaison with the processor/originator, realtors, brokers, customers, and the public maintaining a professional, customer service-oriented demeanor in all contact.

  • Acts as liaison between the company, the broker, realtor, and the processor/originator to ensure timely closing of the loan, accurate completion of all loan documents, proper and complete signatures, and coordination of closing process.
  • Sets up loan applications upon receipt.
  • Responsible for ordering employment and deposit verifications, MERS verifying residential properties, background checks off government lists and property and other 3 rd party checks.
  • Responds to inquiries concerning real estate loan matters, referring more complex questions or problems to the appropriate person for follow up.
  • May enter loans on in-house computer system and is responsible for automated underwriting submissions and the review of loan files for alerts and accuracy.
  • Assist as needed with follow up on missing or incomplete loan documentation.
  • Performs secretarial/clerical duties such as answering telephones, typing correspondence, and reports.
  • Assist with marketing materials, plans and events as needed and approved by RE Manager
  • Assist RE Manager with reports and data as directed by RE Manager
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • Complete required bank training courses within assigned time frame(s). It is the individual learner responsibility to ensure that they understand the information given to them in each training. If the learner does not understand the information given, they need to reach out to their supervisor for further clarification or additional training.
  • Employee must be capable of interacting calmly and professionally with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds at various levels within and outside of the organization.
  • Employee must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance .

  • Represent Bank of the San Juans in a professional manner which includes a professional image, confidentiality, a positive “can-do” attitude, good attendance, punctuality, flexibility and adaptability in meeting bank and customer needs. Keep work area tidy and maintain customer privacy. Attends and participates in meetings as required.
  • Additional duties as requested or assigned.
About YouQUALIFICATIONS:Experience
  • 2 years or more experience in an Assistant/Administration role.
  • At least one year of related Mortgage experience preferred.
Education
  • A high school education or GED.
Required Knowledge:
  • Ability to multi-task and handle complex tasks efficiently. Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service experience
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel
Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of FHA, VA, USDA and Conventional Procedures preferred
  • Ability to learn additional computer applications
  • Knowledge of mortgage or lending terminology.
  • Knowledge of basic mortgage principles.
