Summary Medical Scribes work directly with physicians and Doctors to transcribe information during clinical visits in real time into electronic health records (EHRs). They also work directly with patients to document and record information from their charts during their clinical visit. Responsibilities
Taking notes during patient visits and documenting them in the electronic health records system
Learning about the medical process and using a team approach in patient supervision and documentation
Working with a supervising Physician or Doctor to complete and submit medical records
Communicating with patients and supervising Physicians professionally
Completing all administrative tasks efficiently.Requirements, Preferences and Experience Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent within one year of start-date
Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent communication skills, including both written and verbal
Strong grammar skills
Ability to stay calm under high-pressure conditions and timelines
Excellent customer service skills, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Must be detail-oriented and have good organizational skills
Must have a demonstrable record of reliable attendance, punctuality, and proven successful performance at past and present employers
Must be able to work both with a team and independently
Ability to problem solve
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
Higher level science courses including anatomy and physiology
Focus on pursuing a career in healthcare at a graduate/doctorate level
Prior experience in healthcare settings, particularly in the role of medical scribe
Knowledge of medical terminology
Understanding of medical note content, and medical billing and coding
